Chicago ships young gun Gallagher to the city of brotherly love (not San Fran) Philly to acquire pending FA Jeff Carter. The deal helps the Flyers clear 5.7m in salary while the Hawks will now have to decide if they want to resign Carter to a 6.6m extension before the year is up.

Flyers clear cap and find much cheaper production. Hawks add a coveted player that bleeds Orange and Black.

Flyers agree. We need to clear some cap and Gallagher is a good young player. I would have lost Carter to FA at the end of the year.

I think we're going to continue seeing more of these player for cap space deals. Win-win.

Gallagher is a great young talent, and it makes sense moving Carter. The Cap decrease has pinched a lot of teams. At least Philly is getting a good return while shedding some cap.
