Ottawa management announce a trade with the Winnipeg Jets.
Going to :WIN:
Zack Smith, $3.5m (2014-2015)
Steve Oleksy, $0.4m (2013-2014)
LW - Johan Larsson (2010: 2/56 - 0 Games)
Clear $4.1 Million in cap space.
To :OTT:
Joe Pavelski, $4.0m (2013-2014)
Brian Campbell, $4.0m (2014-2015)
Ottawa makes this deal to add a couple of high quality layers that can produce points consistently. The key for us is the acquisition of Little Joe.
Perhaps the toughest part of this trade for us is parting with Larssen who's a great prospect and Oleksy who showed lots of promise late last year.
We also know Jets are happy to clear $4.1 Million in cap to get some breathing room for future deals.

Jets confirm the trade. We are forced to do some bold moves during the off season, because of the cap situation. The addition of high-level prospect Larsson makes the loss of these two players a lot more easier to handle, and naturally the most important aspect is the 4m that this trade clears room for us.

Lots of teams may have to make tough moves for cap space, this is a solid deal and not just a salary dump with the young pieces coming back.
