Title: Atlanta Braves Contract Extensions
Post by: Yeagg on January 15, 2020, 10:09:23 PM
Sign SS Carlos Correa to a 5 year ext. @ $6,837,500 after his 2020 contract.
He was in the 75% in the 2019 season, his highest ranking.

Resign Zack Greinke to a 1 year deal @ $$22,095,000 for the 2020 season.
He was in the 99% in the 2019 season, his highest ranking.

I have Correa ranked at 64/224 for 2019 which is 72%

What was your calculation?

64/294 so 78%, my mistake. 78% in 2019 so $7,544,000 for 5 years.

The updated extension numbers are here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x9be8L0dEbEELy34LgkKa723GktQbIzJ2eNmdsEy6Ys/edit

For MI for 2019 its 201, and he ranked 64

so teh value I'm using is:

100-(64/201*100) = 68% making Correa ineligible for an extension since he must be above 75%.

I cant round up? That rule makes zero sense. What if you have Mackenzie Gore or Jack Flaherty and they blow out their elbow half way through their #5 season. They would miss the rest of that season and most of the #6 season, which would definitely keep them under 75%.

Are you just S O L in that situation?

So as far as I understand if that happens you can use the prior years ranking and try and get them over 75%. I don't have 2018 numbers because that was before I joined.

He ranked at 68-69% there too because of injury

Looking over your sheets again Correa isn't even eligible for an extension, he just started his 6th year of service. So this is a mute point. So we'll close this transaction now.
