to the San Diego Padres for
Padres 1st Round Pick #1

Astros were looking to cut salary heading into next season and this affords us to add a top notch player.

Thrilled to add Shohei, even if just as a hitter in 2024. Have plenty of cap space to make the move to add premier talent, and this definitely qualifies.
