Title: News Flash for all FGM GMs
Post by: Flash on October 12, 2021, 04:56:51 PM
GMs,

Now that we have completed the 2021 season and are starting our off-season activities, I wanted to pass along some information that should be useful to everyone.

1:  One of our GMs, RyanJames5, reviewed all our team rosters and put together a list of (P-n/a)s that passed their rookie thresholds.  This is something I usually rely on individual GMs to provide, and as a result, some of the (P-n/a)s were well past their rookie thresholds.  With the information RyanJames5 provided, I updated all of your ProFSL rosters to reflect the correct contract information for all (P-2022 - (P-2022) players.  It was a lot of work on RyanJames5 part and it is certainly something that helps keeps our rosters up to date.  A big thanks of gratitude is due RyanJames5 for his diligent commitment to FGM.

2:  In about 3 weeks, we will begin our 10 Round FYPD (First Year Player Draft).  It will begin on November 1st @ 9:00 am ET.  The first round will feature a 12 hour clock and in all succeeding rounds we will go with an 8 hour clock.  Although participation in the FYPD is voluntary, I would hope that all of you take advantage of the opportunity to add some future talent to your rosters.  That said, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that many of you have MiLB rosters with 20 players.  I urge ALL of you to review your MiLB rosters and see if there are players who can be released or promoted to open up some MiLB roster spots.  All of you are welcome to add your draft picks to your MLB rosters if you so choose, but remember, if a player is on your MLB roster, it will count against your current salary cap.  MiLB players are not included in your salary cap figures.

As in the past, we will use Baseball America's Top 500 to guide our picks.  I have gone through the list and noted the players who did not sign an MLB contract.  A player must have an MLB contract to be draft eligible.  Sometimes, a undrafted prospect is not on the BA Top 500 and has signed an MLB contract, that player would be eligible to be drafted.  International players are not eligible draftees and must be treated as a free agent during our preseason free agency.

The FYPD will take place in the FGM Draft Room and can be found at this web link:

http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=387335.0

It is also available through the Draft Room link at the top of the FGM home page.

I will send out courtesy PMs to alert you about your status in the draft.  It will look like this:

1-1 :ATL:  On the Clock until 9:00 pm ET (11/1/21)

1-2 :TOR: On Deck

1-3 :SD: In the Hole

When you draft a player, it is very helpful to me, as the Draft Monitor, if you list the player's prospect number next to the players name so I can cross off that particular player from the BA Top 500.  If, for some reason, your 12 window expires, you will be awarded an auto pick of the highest ranked player.  You don't have to wait for my courtesy PM if your turn comes up, you can post your player if it is your turn.  The Draft Room is currently open if :ATL: wants to draft early.

This is a lot of information, but we have a few new GMs who will be going through the draft for the first time, so I am trying to make it as painless as possible.  Please PM me if you have any questions.

3:  The Referendum on adding a 60 Day Injured List has enough votes to pass.  I will list the final vote tally on the Transactions Page.  I will also post how the Rule will be implemented on the Transaction Page.

4:  Finally, as the moderator of FGM, I hope all of you will give me a little leeway to enact an Executive Action.  We currently have an archaic rule will stretches the time to extend a prospect to December 31st of each year.  This rule is of little value and beginning with the 2022 season, unless there is a majority of people against it, I would like to move that deadline to the end of the season like players on expiring contracts.  It's such a headache to list (P-2021)s on your ProFSL roster and hope that you extend them in a timely manner.  It would make things much easier for me, as your moderator, to simply have all extensions in place by the season's end.  We could have a leaguewide vote, but I really think it's something that concerns the moderator more than the general membership.  But, as always, if you have any thoughts as to why we should keep the current rule, please reply.

I will post this PM on the Transactions Board for further reference.
