Section A- Determining Eligibility
Item AVIII A-1.0 Eligibility
- Players are always eligible for at least one position.
- To gain position eligibility a player must have played 25 GP or 20 IP played at the position within a particular season (This represents half of the eligibility for prospect contracts)
- Current and past season statistics are used to determine eligibility.
Item AVIII A-2.0 (MiLB players)
- A player called up from the MiLB will immediately have their eligibility analyzed.
- If a player does not meet position eligibility requirements, the position where the player played the majority of their games will be used if necessary.
Item AVIII A-3.0 (MLB players)
- Each MLB player's eligibility is analyzed yearly, during the off-season. The 25GP/20IP rule applies.
- The player will remain eligible for the position(s) for which he qualifies for the upcoming season.
- In addition, a player can gain eligibility at another position should he reach the 25GP/20IP plateau at any time during the current season.
