No, they do not have enough expiring contracts to buy-out the needed cap room. The best I can figure is $0.6m short after buying out Shattenkirk and temporarily sending Smith and Hodgson to the minors. Again, my point was to not hold him to the deadline while the issue was examined. I believe that has been done.
It looked like Thunder wanted to use the amnesty buyout to swing the cap for the extensions, which I hope isnt allowed as many of us would want the same...I think tho that like Montreal we dont hold him to the deadlines and lets make the best decisions for Detroit so Thunder competes like he always does for the future

buying out expiring contracts does not give you more "Projected Cap Space"Only option that I see working was- Send down Hodgson and Smith- Extend Hodgson and Shattenkirk
