Evgeni Malkin experiencing concussion like symptons
« on: February 23, 2013, 04:54:15 PM »
The Pittsburgh Penguins know what it is like to have a superstar player have to sit out because of a concussion. It looks like it may happen again only it is not Sidney Crosby but Evgeni Malkin. With 15:09 remaining in the third period in their game with the Florida Panthers on Friday, Malkin got shoved by Panther defenceman Erik Gudbranson into the end boards with his head snapping back into the boards. It was not a dirty play on Gudbranson's part, just an unfortunate slide into the boards for Malkin.
I just finished my check, Gudbranson said. You never want to see a guy go down. Hes in a vulnerable position. But you cant pass up a hit. Its unfortunate that he got hurt on the play, but its one Id take every time. Malkin is expected to miss Sunday's game with Tampa and it is not yet known if he will accompany the team when they go on a road trip next week.

This is certainly not good for the Pens or a couple of my fantasy teams.

Terrible news! Not just for the Pens, but for hockey fans in general

Malkin got hurt again in Saturday night's game vs. the Leafs. He was kept off the ice during the overtime and shootout for precautionary reasons. All the Penguins are saying is that it is an upper body injury. He will miss Sunday's game vs. the Islanders.

  • jblum: #1 in the west for GS is a fluke imo
    Today at 03:31:22 PM
  • sports guru: I think the Cs would be smart to keep Rondo and just give him the max. He is well worth it and they have some nice young pieces to build around

  • Ace: GS need Bogut to be healthy and Lee to remain injured imo; he adds nothing for them (they don't need his offense)
  • Ace: also Rondo isn't worth the max; poor defender who can't shoot (obviously amazing handle and vision)
