New York Islanders place Rick DiPietro on waivers

New York Islanders have placed goalie Rick DiPietro on waivers. He is expected to clear waivers and report to their AHL affiliate Bridgeport Sound Tigers as no team is expected to claim him because of a ridiculous 15 year/$67.5m contract he signed in 2006, of which he has 8 years/$36m remaining. What makes that contract even worse is that DiPietro has been plagued with injuries since signing it. Islanders are expected to call up Kevin Poulin.

Aren't they allowed to Amnesty?
They could use it next season as well.

Or second worse to Alexi Yashin who the Islanders signed as well.  At one point the management was so bad that GM Garth Snow was still paying himself on a goalie contract after he retired!

I bet he would really suck at Fantasy sports!

Yeah DiPietro's contract is definitely the worst of all time in my opinion. Injuries have hurt his career, but I don't think he would have ever lived up to anything close to that contract.
