Mat Gamel tears ACL, again
« on: February 18, 2013, 09:30:58 PM »
For the second year in a row Mat Gamel has torn his ACL and will miss the entire 2013 season. He tore it last year after playing just 21 games and now it happens again in spring training. Gamel was once a top prospect but has not played very much in MLB due to injuries.

  • andyscott23: My 2 cents, think the problem comes in when you have a $ league compared to say a FREE dynasty league. I think people get more concerned about a lopsided trade drastically improves the power of upper echelon teams. Fair or not. It happens

  • Eric: I am done with TC;s for the most part. In mine I will have me and the co commish. I will usually let deals go unless its trade rape
    Yesterday at 11:34:33 PM
  • rcankosy: TC's have been a tradition in Profsl leagues starting with Franchise GM, but in other leagues trades are vetoed only if collusion is suspected
    Yesterday at 11:37:12 PM
  • Scalious: Another problem is this league has factors that differ valuation of players. Its honestly hard to gauge trades sometimes. You can look at the valueation from so many angles
    Yesterday at 11:38:24 PM
  • Brent: Well there were some attempted trade rapes.
  • Lindner: I like having TCs in bigger leagues.  There are always a few terrible GMs that ruin the competitive balance of the league if you don't have a TC monitoring things.  In smaller leagues, it's a lot easier to avoid turnover and have really good GMs, so it's really not a big problem.

  • Scalious: speaking of... that Machado trade.. still terrible. Even more so :PIT: never used that cap space and abandoned that team
    Yesterday at 11:41:19 PM
  • rcankosy: the good GM's will make the one-sided trades with or w/o a TC
    Yesterday at 11:43:03 PM
  • Lindner: That's why we added the new rules!

  • Jpsprague10: Dee Gordan and Henderson Alvarez di end up having decent seasons after all though. It could have turned out a lot worse.
  • rcankosy: as long as there are impatient GM's or ones that fall in love wih prospects, there will be vultures who clean their clock and the TC will allow those trades under the pretense that there was "talent" involved
    Yesterday at 11:46:20 PM
  • Jpsprague10: Still i agree, the thought process was whack.
