Tim Thomas Traded

Islanders have acquired goalie Tim Thomas from the Boston Bruins for a conditional pick in 2014 or 2015.

I don't believe the Islanders understand their own direction for their team. They have Nabby along with Glass Rick, as well as a couple decent young goalies in Nilsson and Poulin. Why pick up Thomas?

Ultimate question is does Thomas even play this season now?

I think this was a move to get the Islanders above the cap floor. I have my doubts Thomas will ever put on an Islanders jersey but then you never really know what will happen.

Its totally for cap reason so that the Islanders can reach the cap floor I think they will toll the contract and ifThomas comes back they move him then

This move makes the Bruins players in the Trade market, freeing 5M in cap space, and if they put Savvy back on LTiR they will have 11M in cap space, which is huge.

The B's need some Wing help they will likely look at guys like Iggy, Ryder, Prospal, Sullivan. They need maybe 2 top 9 forwards and maybe another D-man. Likely depth moves rather than a splash for Iggy, but I know the bruins brass really liks Iggy.

I think Ryder would be an awesome fit as he knows the team, the system and can play on the 3rd line with Kelly and Soupy
