MIA/TEX (McDonald, Young, Hughes, Porcello, Jay)
« on: January 25, 2013, 02:04:56 PM »
Marlins send:

SP - James McDonald $2,000,000 (4th year of PC)
SP - Phil Hughes $6,000,000 (6th year of PC)
OF - Chris Young $5,600,000 (2013)
        and $1,000,0000

in exchange for

SP - Rick Porcello $2,000,000 (4th year of PC)
OF - Jon Jay $425,000 (2nd year of PC)
3B - Carlos Sanchez{from Myrtle Beach pelicans}
Johnson, Brian, LHP from Florida

I'm one of the last remaining hold outs on Porcello, and he just turned 24 last month so he still has the ability to improve in my eyes. He will never be what people once thought but we've seen his floor and it's not bad at all. I really like Jon Jay in CF and they can't all be Josh Hamiltons, but his high contact rate and low strike rate make him a way better producer then Young and he still has 4 years of affordability before i need to make a decision on paying him $6 million dollars. Carlos Sanchez might be one of the few bright spots in Chicago's farm system, and although he lacks the big pop every one is in search of his .323 avg, .388 OBP and 26 steals all the way from A+ to AAA ball at age 20 is very promising. And let's face it Beckham really isn't a "definite" at 2nd base and can be replaced and shipped to the outfield as 4th outfielder. Adding the Boston Red Sox first round selection from last years draft just makes me giddy as a school girl. Thanks for the talks Sky. Plus the $10,000,000 in cap space is huge.

Rangers agree!

We fell we improved our rotation with McDonald and Hughes as we continue to improve our ball club in exchange for a few prospects that are far from helping out MLB roster.
