MIA/TEX (McDonald, Young, Hughes, Porcello, Jay)
« on: January 25, 2013, 02:04:56 PM »
Marlins send:

SP - James McDonald $2,000,000 (4th year of PC)
SP - Phil Hughes $6,000,000 (6th year of PC)
OF - Chris Young $5,600,000 (2013)
        and $1,000,0000

in exchange for

SP - Rick Porcello $2,000,000 (4th year of PC)
OF - Jon Jay $425,000 (2nd year of PC)
3B - Carlos Sanchez{from Myrtle Beach pelicans}
Johnson, Brian, LHP from Florida

I'm one of the last remaining hold outs on Porcello, and he just turned 24 last month so he still has the ability to improve in my eyes. He will never be what people once thought but we've seen his floor and it's not bad at all. I really like Jon Jay in CF and they can't all be Josh Hamiltons, but his high contact rate and low strike rate make him a way better producer then Young and he still has 4 years of affordability before i need to make a decision on paying him $6 million dollars. Carlos Sanchez might be one of the few bright spots in Chicago's farm system, and although he lacks the big pop every one is in search of his .323 avg, .388 OBP and 26 steals all the way from A+ to AAA ball at age 20 is very promising. And let's face it Beckham really isn't a "definite" at 2nd base and can be replaced and shipped to the outfield as 4th outfielder. Adding the Boston Red Sox first round selection from last years draft just makes me giddy as a school girl. Thanks for the talks Sky. Plus the $10,000,000 in cap space is huge.

Rangers agree!

We fell we improved our rotation with McDonald and Hughes as we continue to improve our ball club in exchange for a few prospects that are far from helping out MLB roster.

  • Capn Cally: Let me just vouch for Gilly and say that he values draft picks very very low no matter what sport or league or how many ppl are in the league!
  • Scalious: JMAC.. I believe OUDAN timed out in BTL MLB. So you can make a pick
    Yesterday at 11:43:46 PM
  • Calvin: and picks are valuable, but i would assume that a higher bounty would be paid on cameron than gordon
    Yesterday at 11:44:06 PM
  • Calvin: gordon would work better as a player dealt to another rebuilding team imo
    Yesterday at 11:44:24 PM
  • Gilly: Cally lets just say you didnt help there my man lol
    Yesterday at 11:44:43 PM
  • JMAC: pick 15.and.45.tbis season could have been an.allen robinson or.jordan matthews and a isaiah crowell or mckinnon type. Pretty solid in.32.team contract.league. Again to.each his own though

  • Calvin: i've seen worse trades, i understand the rational behind it
    Yesterday at 11:44:51 PM
  • Corey: interesting deal. In MB NE LOR SD trades cannot occur between 2 teams if they have the same owner and he gms one of them
    Yesterday at 11:44:51 PM
  • Scalious: How are they worthless? Id imagine at least 1 of them has a low re-sign value
    Yesterday at 11:44:55 PM
  • Calvin: exactly
  • Gilly: Thanks Calvin, I will take that into thoughts when I rework or look elsewhere should it be veto-ed, thank u sir

  • Calvin: wait what's worthless?
  • Calvin: np gilly, I understand that 1sts and seconds are quite big
    Yesterday at 11:45:52 PM
  • Calvin: but cameron is a top TE now (not easy to come by), and Gordon, if you can sit on the risk of him being further suspended, he would be a high homerun value
    Yesterday at 11:46:24 PM
  • Capn Cally: On I haven't looked haha I figured you were dumping picks again to get a sweet player. Roles reversed this time around eh? But it's a heck of a lot different in a football league since there's more than 6 positions to fill in like hockey haha
    Yesterday at 11:46:28 PM
  • JMAC: there is no.such thing as worthless offensive players in.nflc, guys like hester cost 8.5m and scrubs like.louis murphy are going.for 2m.plus for.3 yrs. There is plenty of.value in all.offensive players in.this deep.of a league. Many differing.opinions though obviously. LOL
