I'm fine with both 15 or 20 protected riders, however if it's free choice I'm afraid many people will choose to protect 20, even if their team doesn't warrant it. Humans are just egoistic like that. :P

Yep for me it was clear that you have to have at least one rider available, so taht you can't choose the i protect 20 riders option if you have 20 or less riders in your team.....

After a somewhat carefull analisys to my team, I was able to protect 15 riders, and didn't had that much trouble doing it.

I believe 15 riders should be enough for each team to protect, just prevent Blanczy from selection more than 1/6 (rounded down) from each team, meaning, I have 30 riders, so he would be able to select 5 riders from my team. If I had, for instance, 20 riders, he would be able to select 3.

just prevent Blankzy from selection more than 1/6 from each team

Let's not go that far. It's gonna be 1 rider from each team, otherwise those who signed the smartest contracts would be punished the most.

Another alternative: free up at least 1/3 of your team.

I like the 1/3 option even more now that I realize he is not starting from scratch.

Actually, I'm against this idea altogether.

I'm going to go and buy some 30k people on the free list in order to protect my team now.

My team that not only comprises some of my favourite riders, but took hours of deliberation, careful research and LOVE to choose each one.

I feel as if I have been asked which of my children to pick in a situation where a fire would definitely claim one of them.

Time, and the full force of nature are both against me.

THIS IS A BAD IDEA.

Let him find new favourite riders, like starting with Hartlepool United on Fantasy Football. Give him a new challenge.

  • redbeard82: i think gallo is going to be somewhat different
    Today at 01:05:59 AM
  • redbeard82: he could be a .230 30+HR guy in an age when .230 isn't all that terrible, especially if you walk

  • Eric: Corey, were you able to complete that text?
  • Brent: I hear y'all, but I could really care less about K's.  I know some league on here favor OBP while others lean toward actual production not just getting on base.

  • nmrch: Joey Gallo = Juan Francisco
  • redbeard82: if it's not a points league then the k rate won't really matter too much for fantasy purposes
    Today at 01:07:58 AM
  • redbeard82: i suppose that's raising the ante over mike olt at least
    Today at 01:08:19 AM
  • nmrch: and to be fair to Juan, Gallo's AA K rate is still higher than Juan worst year in the bigs
    Today at 01:08:48 AM
  • Brent: For example, this guy sucks, yet he was a good fantasy performer.  :puke: [link]
  • Scalious: Brent..thing I worry about is you know the K rate usually rises when they make the majors. Name me a hitter that as survived on a 40% K rate.
  • redbeard82: not like we should let gallo have an adjustment period or anything ;)
  • nmrch: the K rate might not matter for fantasy purposes but teams don't give playing time to a guy that will K 50% of the time
    Today at 01:10:48 AM
  • nottathedaddy: Mark Reynolds= Joey Gallo
    Today at 01:11:59 AM
  • nmrch: a good TTO guy can put up decent overall numbers as long as the K rate stays in the low 30's
    Today at 01:12:10 AM
  • nmrch: Gallo is projected to K in the mid 40's or maybe even 50%
    Today at 01:13:02 AM
  • redbeard82: after all the growth gallo showed between last year and this year, it amazes me that struggles at AA get him written off so quickly.
  • chrisetc21: He's 20 years old, not 25
    Today at 01:13:45 AM
  • redbeard82: dude should have just finished what? his sophomore year of college?
  • nmrch: Reynold's minor league K rate is around 25%
    Today at 01:14:07 AM
  • redbeard82: and instead he posted an .850 OPS at AA?
  • nmrch: and his major league career K rate of 32%is already pushing the limits of TTO
    Today at 01:15:01 AM
  • nottathedaddy: I think it a team thing, Most of the Rangers prospects have the same problem.
  • Ace: joey gallo's a rich man's patrick wisdom ;-)
  • nmrch: Gallo would have to make huge strides in contact rate just to get to the level of  Adam Dunn/Mark Reynolds
    Today at 01:16:13 AM
  • redbeard82: haha. patrick wisdom is a homeless man's patrick wisdom
    Today at 01:17:23 AM
  • nmrch: look at Javier Baez, he never even crossed the 30% mark in the minors and he's having severe problems with making contact
    Today at 01:17:35 AM
  • redbeard82: i mean yes. i agree gallo is terrible and brent should trade him to me immediately.
  • redbeard82: baez has a long history of needing a long adjustment period though when moving levels.
  • Scalious: Yeah..Gallo has youth on his side
    Today at 01:18:51 AM
  • nmrch: i'm not as pessimistic on Baez though, atleast as a fantasy player
    Today at 01:18:54 AM
  • Scalious: He can always improve
  • Brent: Yeah, I know he sucks.  I saw where Bryant needs to go play in Korea and be a side show, let's trade them for each other straight up.
  • nmrch: you can get away with a lot if you hit 25HR's and steal 20
    Today at 01:19:21 AM
  • redbeard82: and a lot of this is mike trout syndrome where ow when top prospects struggle they're no good. we think they should all immediately be near their ceilings.
  • Brent: yep
  • chrisetc21: Your extrapolating 68 games at Double A as a 20 year old
    Today at 01:20:14 AM
  • Brent: agreed Red.  Guys can never improve, their ceilings are what the spec experts say they are.
  • nmrch: im not a prospect expert at all
    Today at 01:21:47 AM
  • Scalious: Can go either way. Not gonna right off a 20 year old. That is for sure..
  • Scalious: write
  • redbeard82: well i like some of the spec experts...but when they talk ceiling, they're talking career ceiling not rookie year ceiling
    Today at 01:22:10 AM
  • redbeard82: struggles are a normal part of the prospect development
