NOTICE: 2013-14 CAP PROJECTED AT $64.3M
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:35:19 AM »
CBA talks are referring to a possible 2013-14 NHL salary cap that will be close to the $64.3 milion mark.

if that's the case, each team will have to lots of tough decisions to make with their roster. our FNHL cap is currently set at $70.3M.

jan7-13: revised 2013-14 projected Salary Cap from $60 to $64.3 per updated CBA.

looking around the league... it seems 1/3 of the teams are setup to handle the significant cap reduction while the rest of the team (incl. my cats) have their work cut out.

i know i built my team to contend this yr but expected to have to dismantle a little during he offseason. now it appears i'll have to overhaul my roster nxt summer... but thats always fun! :)

Hey Pigs,

Will we have some sort of special buyout clause because of the new CBA terms. It seems to me that if the owners get one, we should too.

we have x1 amnesty buyout that becomes active yr end for a limites time.

thats a b/o at 40% of the players salary.

other possible new rules could be discussed leaguewide once the nhl announces the official deal. :)

If we are matching the nHL cap Are we rolling back current contracts ect
« Reply #6 on: January 07, 2013, 08:55:54 PM »
Looking to know what the plan is here. I have a lot of free agents. Need to have an idea what I can do with the cap dropping. NHL is rolling back salaries to get to 50/50 and next years cap. Make whole money is not included... So that should mean all league contracts go down by a percentage to match. Which should also mean extension rates should go down. Hope to get an answer asap.

Thanks

Great question Dallas!
my thinking (Phoenix / Hockeyfreak47 can jump in on this chat with your feedback as well)

Without an official ratified CBA I'm not sure what's what.
But based on highlevel talking pts around the new CBA + what you've mentioned, i would say this:

1. 2012-13 to remain unchanged (per my rule of trying not to make in-season changes)

2. 2013-14 NHL projected cap is expected to be $64.3M ... FNHL can mimic that

3. if the new CBA calls for % roll backs of player salaries, i will ask that "we" / FNHL not copy that as it would be an administrative pain to redo all player contracts for 30 teams (approx 900 contracts to recalculate  :o ).

Bottomline: that would mean teams need to continue doing what they do now, maneuver around the cap + extensions values would remain since they haven't been touched since 2010-11 when this league launched and the 2010-11 salary cap was even lower, at $59.4 million.

btw, in case anyone's interested here's what the NHL salary cap values for the past 5 NHL seasons - LINK:
2008-09 = $56.7
2009-10 = $56.8
2010-11 = $59.4
2011-12 = $64.3
2012-13 = $70.2

Big  from the isles.  I actually never could understand why the league kept increasing cap but never adjusted the extension values.

The idea is you build your team with a salary of XXX and then every 2-3 seasons you have decisions to make. Field a 26 man roster, control your own pitching rotation, pen, lineup & bench like the true MLB. Draft every season where there's a lot of turnover. Interesting for sure.

Julio Aguilar/Getty ImagesJayden Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft By Fernando Franco Puga  The Washington Commanders have received some very bad news. Jayden Daniels, who they picked with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 Draft, may soon be banned from the NFL after violating a very important rule.   In the 2024 NFL Draft, several teams were in need of a top quarterback to bolster their offenses. With the 2nd overall pick, the Commanders decided to select Jayden Daniels, one of the best prospects at the position.  Daniels had a remarkable path through LSU, even breaking some of Joe Burrow’s records. However, the quarterback’s career is now in jeopardy after he admitted to breaking the league’s rules regarding gambling.   Jayden Daniels openly admits to violating the NFL’s gambling policy Worrying news has arrived in Washington today. Jayden Daniels, their 1st-round pick this year, has openly admitted to violating the NFL’s gambling policy, and his rookie season is in jeopardy.  NFL Draft: Jayden Daniels admits whether he'd like to play for the Washington Commanders SEE ALSO  NFL Draft: Jayden Daniels admits whether he'd like to play for the Washington Commanders  During a recent appearance on the “All Facts, No Brakes” podcast, Daniels revealed that he has a bet with Malik Nabers, the New York Giants‘ 6th overall pick, on who’s going to be this year’s NFL Offensive rookie.   “Man, he wasn’t supposed to tell nobody,” Daniels said about Nabers revealing the bet. “We got a little something going on. I mean, he put it out there, so it’s like I can’t say he cap.”  Keyshawn Johnson, host of the podcast, asked Daniels about the bet. The quarterback admitted that the wager for $10,000 is real, but he was clearly uncomfortable with the question.    Jayden Daniels Jayden Daniels with LSU “Going against him is gonna be fun,” Nabers said, via the New York Daily News. “We got a bet going for Rookie of the Year. Whoever loses gotta pay, I think it’s $10,000 cash.”  Nabers and Daniels were teammates at LSU. They are set to meet in at least two games in the upcoming season. However, this gamble could get them both banned from the NFL, as they are clearly violating the league’s gambling policy.  What does the NFL gambling policy says about betting? This situation will pose a huge challenge for the Commanders and the Giants. The league strictly prohibits players from engaging in any form of gambling related to the NFL, as it undermines the integrity of the game.  SEE ALSO  2024 NFL Draft picks by team: How many picks does each team have?  The policy explicitly prohibits ‘private wagers between teammates, family and friends, or others.’ This situation could land the two rookies in trouble, potentially resulting in a ban for the former LSU players.  SURVEY Should Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers be banned over their bet?  Yes No ALREADY VOTED 1162 PEOPLE  Fernando Franco Puga Fernando Franco is an accomplished writer and sports journalist specializing in soccer, NFL, MLB, and MMA.
