Profar, Bauer, Hamilton headline Top 250 Specs
« on: November 19, 2012, 11:37:34 AM »

Last updated: November 19, 2012

Prospect rankings below are compiled several times per year.  The goal of these rankings is to show how we at ProFSL think that these players will perform in most fantasy leagues over their careers.

Profar is #1 for our end-of-2012 rankings | Courtesy of USA Today

1) Jurickson Profar :TEX: - Rangers always seem to have a top infield prospect
2) Trevor Bauer :ARZ: - Bauer strikes out more than one batter per inning
3) Billy Hamilton :CIN: - Stealing 155 bases in a season (and only getting caught 37 times) is amazing
4) Dylan Bundy :BAL: - Part of Baltimore success story in 2012
5) Shelby Miller :STL: - Will be 2013 mainstay in St. Louis
6) Jameson Taillon :PIT: - Tracked to be fixture in Pirates 2014 rotation
7) Danny Hultzen :SEA: - Needs to improve upon AAA showing in 2012
8) Jonathan Singleton :HOU: - Value has skyrocketed since going to Astros
9) Gerrit Cole :PIT: - Cole, part of the Pirates' two aces in their farm system actually picked up some AAA experience in his first year
10) Miguel Sano :MIN: - 28 homers in 2012 was a plus, but .258 avg was a minus; next stop is AA
11) Wil Myers :KC: - Batted .300 at all MILB levels, time for the majors
12) Julio Teheran :ATL: - Rated as top five overall prospect by Baseball America 2011-12
13) Anthony Rendon :WAS: - Forget Harper; Rendon was and is the pure hitting spec to watch in the Nats' system
14) Mike Olt :TEX: - Crushed 28 homers at AA Frisco in 2012 (only 354 AB), called up for a couple weeks and hit no homers with .152 AVG (needs more time)
15) Tyler Skaggs :ARZ: - His time (four seasons) in the minors is enough; it's time for the show (should be regular starter by 2014)
16) Taijuan Walker :SEA: - Like the Pirates, the Mariners have two aces stashed in the minors
17) Christian Yelich :MIA-MLB: - Excellent year in 2012 posting a .329/.402/.516 line
18) Xander Bogaerts :BOS: - The Groovin' Aruban (blame us for the lack of an editor's desk for having this nickname here)
19) Martin Perez :TEX: - Rated top 31 prospect or better from 2010-12 by Baseball America, but AAA WHIP over past two seasons is just a 1.50
20) Jorge Soler :CHC: - Raw talent is there, money is there, but will he pan out?
21) Carlos Correa :HOU: - 1st overall pick in 2013 from the Dominican Republic
22) Nick Franklin :SEA:
23) Nick Castellanos :DET:
24) Gary Brown :SF: - Regressed at AA Richmond; not a power hitter so OBP needs to pick up from .347
25) Bubba Starling :KC: - Part of 1-2 OF punch by KC MILB
26) Brett Jackson :CHC: - Opportunity should be there in 2013
27) A.J. Cole :OAK:
28) Zack Cox :MIA-MLB:
29) Hak-Ju Lee :TB:
30) Michael Choice :OAK: - The choice is yours Michael… progress or stall?
31) Mike Zunino :SEA:
32) Mike Montgomery :KC:
33) Carlos Martinez :STL:
34) Jackie Bradley, Jr. :BOS:
35) Zach Wheeler :NYM:
36) Nolan Arenado :COL: - Probably the next power-hitting CI to come out of the minors
37) Jake Odorizzi :KC:
38) Archie Bradley :ARZ:
39) Francisco Lindor :CLE:
40) Javier Baez :CHC:
41) Oscar Taveras :STL:
42) James Paxton :SEA: - Hultzen, Walker, and Paxton are giving Seattle a lot of hope
43) Chris Archer :TB:
44) Trevor May :PHI:
45) Jose Fernandez :MIA-MLB:
46) Leonys Martin :TEX:
47) Manny Banuelos :NYY:
48) Jake Marisnick :TOR:
49) Daniel Straily :OAK: - We had a nice glance at his stuff in the majors in 2012
50) Jarred Cosart :HOU: - Top 50 spec by BA pre-2012
51) Mason Williams :NYY:
52) George Springer :HOU:
53) Byron Buxton :MIN:
54) Zach Lee :LAD:
55) Aaron Hicks :MIN:

It was a group effort.  Where do you think they should be ranked?

Hamilton is ranked way too high IMO, and he is not going to play SS, he will be an OF.  He has already switched to CF, which makes sense, Stubbs is horrible and he could get some time sooner than later.

As it stands right now, he has the eligibility, but his OBP and speed are out of this world.

Not discrediting what he did, but I saw a pitcher go from being drafted to dominating every level of the minors and making a MLB roster in less than a year and Hamilton is still doing all his damage in single A. Hamilton just ranked too high for me, breaking records and all, but still not getting promoted..... seems fishy.

I think Arodys Vizcaino should be on there. He is top 100 let alone 250. I know he had surgery but still should be on a top 250 list.

Good call.  He missed our top 250 cut and was eligible.  The injury had an impact on our rankings but he deserves top 150.

It was probably a matter of a lot of people forgetting he was eligible or just forgetting about him all together.
