I'm actually really liking this deal for :MIA-MLB:.  They are getting some really good young guys.

Re: Buehrle & JJ & JOSE REYES - A BLUE JAY???
« Reply #22 on: November 14, 2012, 01:19:06 PM »
Dont get me wrong, from a fan's perspective its a phenomenel deal.  They immediately become AL East contenders.  There are definite red flags though: a. ton of money, b. JJ only locked for 1 year and is injury proned, c. gave up some nice young pieces, etc.

Jury is still out on if its a good deal long term.   I agree with Jesse though that the fans deserve it and its great to see them push their chips and go ALL IN.  AL East is going to be fun.

I do get what you mean, it is a big risk for the Jays, I just like the players they got in return, last off season I really wanted to Sox to sign Buehrle, since he doesn't get hurt, works fast, lots of ground ball out..did I mention he doesn't get hurt?? JJ is risky guy, but I think his stuff is good enough to take that risk..Marsanick and Nicolino will be MLB players pretty soon, and I think pretty good, but that is all the Jays lost here theyalso added by subtracting..as Escobar is a cancer..Alvarez is very inconsistent, Mathis is a avg def catcher with no bat,  Hechavarria's bat hasn't showed up like the Jays had hoped, and DeSclafani is forgettable..I wonder what the Sox would have had to give to do the same deal?

I heard on Boston radio earlier that the Sox were discussing JJ/Reyes with Miami (not sure if other guys were in it too) and the starting price Miami asked for was Middlebrooks, Doubront, Boegearts + MORE.  Give me a break.

This trade is great for the Marlins as well as the Jays.

You have to think of the whole picture. The Marlins team lost 40 million dollars in 2012. There is noway they were gona make 40million in 2013.

There is no team in the world at any sport that would be ok with losing 40million in one season.

No matter who takes the field the fans will NOT come. Nicolino and Marisnec are nice cheap additions.

Escobar is good trade bait if he starts to hit. and Hech isnt a bad spec either.

Im not saying the trade is totally fair, but for a team with no fan support and lots of payroll, you have to dump. They get good pieces tho in return.

Everyone is dogging the Marlins side, and what I stated above earlier about them losing 40m last season, came from Peter Gammons so that is an accurate statement.

I dog the Marlins ownership for the lies told to their fans, and then using tax payer money to pay for this stadium..Loria should be headed to jail in the next couple of years.

Look at it from the owner side. He brought in big time stars got no fan support and they did not win. Should he lose another 40,000,000. I don't think so. I would cell the players making big money too.

The fans in Miami have never supported the Marlins, or Dolphins..unless they are winning late in the season..can't blame the fans for Loria's inability to build a winner.
