yeah, David Stern would of vetoed it......if it were the NBA

I'm actually really liking this deal for :MIA-MLB:.  They are getting some really good young guys.

Dont get me wrong, from a fan's perspective its a phenomenel deal.  They immediately become AL East contenders.  There are definite red flags though: a. ton of money, b. JJ only locked for 1 year and is injury proned, c. gave up some nice young pieces, etc.

Jury is still out on if its a good deal long term.   I agree with Jesse though that the fans deserve it and its great to see them push their chips and go ALL IN.  AL East is going to be fun.

I do get what you mean, it is a big risk for the Jays, I just like the players they got in return, last off season I really wanted to Sox to sign Buehrle, since he doesn't get hurt, works fast, lots of ground ball out..did I mention he doesn't get hurt?? JJ is risky guy, but I think his stuff is good enough to take that risk..Marsanick and Nicolino will be MLB players pretty soon, and I think pretty good, but that is all the Jays lost here theyalso added by subtracting..as Escobar is a cancer..Alvarez is very inconsistent, Mathis is a avg def catcher with no bat,  Hechavarria's bat hasn't showed up like the Jays had hoped, and DeSclafani is forgettable..I wonder what the Sox would have had to give to do the same deal?

I heard on Boston radio earlier that the Sox were discussing JJ/Reyes with Miami (not sure if other guys were in it too) and the starting price Miami asked for was Middlebrooks, Doubront, Boegearts + MORE.  Give me a break.

This trade is great for the Marlins as well as the Jays.

You have to think of the whole picture. The Marlins team lost 40 million dollars in 2012. There is noway they were gona make 40million in 2013.

There is no team in the world at any sport that would be ok with losing 40million in one season.

No matter who takes the field the fans will NOT come. Nicolino and Marisnec are nice cheap additions.

Escobar is good trade bait if he starts to hit. and Hech isnt a bad spec either.

Im not saying the trade is totally fair, but for a team with no fan support and lots of payroll, you have to dump. They get good pieces tho in return.

Everyone is dogging the Marlins side, and what I stated above earlier about them losing 40m last season, came from Peter Gammons so that is an accurate statement.

I dog the Marlins ownership for the lies told to their fans, and then using tax payer money to pay for this stadium..Loria should be headed to jail in the next couple of years.

Look at it from the owner side. He brought in big time stars got no fan support and they did not win. Should he lose another 40,000,000. I don't think so. I would cell the players making big money too.

The fans in Miami have never supported the Marlins, or Dolphins..unless they are winning late in the season..can't blame the fans for Loria's inability to build a winner.

  • Jonathan: I just do it like that, so its clear who needs to be extended.
  • papps: So I can still sign them?
  • papps: gotcha
  • papps: so only those guys can be extended, not the ones on 2015 contracts correct
    Today at 06:53:07 PM
  • Jonathan: I'll take Cox and Kendricks, if you dont want them  :P
    Today at 06:53:24 PM
  • papps: i knew you loved the Cox ;)
  • Jonathan: Yeah, expecially with those resigns  :disco:
  • papps: The 2015 contracts get extended next offseason, correct
    Today at 06:55:51 PM
  • Jonathan: correct, Cox @ 3M is a pretty sweet deal.
  • papps: he can be traded ;)
  • Jonathan: haha I would if DL was worth something.
  • papps: it can be the difference between winning and losing a week
    Today at 06:58:53 PM
  • Jonathan: I have found it very hard to find a league that gives DL any real points.
  • Jonathan: Watt, but I think we can call him the exception.
  • Jonathan: NFLC gives way too many points to DL, forgot about them.
  • Jonathan: In NFLC, only 1 RB or WR outscored Watt....
  • Brent: Sure do, got to make sure players have value.
  • Jonathan: I think its over the top, but just my opinion. TGF they score too weakly and NFLC way too much. Watt is worth 200 points more than 2nd best DL.... crazy
    Today at 07:08:27 PM
  • Brent: b/c his offesnive TD's actually counted for him which they should.
  • Brent: He's not a normal DL, he catches TD's on O.  He should be quite a bit ahead of the crowd.
  • Jonathan: You think he is 200 points better than Keuchly?
  • Brent: Does Keuchly play goalline TE and catch TD's?  Does Keuchly house pretty much every TO he gets his hands on?
  • Jonathan: Chances he has another like that is probably pretty low.
  • Jonathan: I am just trying to understand how Watt would be a top 10 QB in that league.
  • Jonathan: I prefer TGF by a large margin. Although most DL score little, overall its better.
  • papps: Jonathan, McCoy may look good in a Jets uniform ;)
  • Jonathan: Lol
  • Jonathan: I am in great shape at RB position. I am looking for WR mainly.
  • papps: DeSean Jackson would look good in a Jets uniform lol
    Today at 07:19:54 PM
  • Jonathan: Ertz would look best
  • papps: Jordan Matthews would look great in an Eagles uniform
    Today at 07:21:00 PM
  • Jonathan: You keep taking all the eagles, I had to get me 1.
  • Jonathan: haha, now you have a bunch of x-eagles
    Today at 07:23:20 PM
  • papps: Matthews needs to be in an Eagles uniform
    Today at 07:23:43 PM
  • papps: its only right
  • papps: Maclin, Jackson, Fleener could all be had ;)
  • Jonathan: I hear ya, I will wait until after Draft to make any splashes.
  • Jonathan: I got earl wolffe too  :P
  • Jonathan: oh and Polk lol
  • Jonathan: and even Trey Burton... I was digging deep I guess.
  • Jonathan: papps u run Eagles in NFLC?
  • Jonathan: Duke gonna put these guys away or what?
