New Orleans/Philadelphia Multi Sport Deal
« on: November 13, 2012, 01:40:55 AM »
New Orleans sends:
Chris Capuano SP
Jan Vesely F WAS

Philadelphia sends:
Patrick Willis LB SF
Garin Cecchini SS/3B BOS

New Orleans does the trade to acquire a LB as that is one of our weakest positions.  Cap was a huge scorer for us this year in baseball, but we fell that adding a LB in football is important although they score a fraction of what offensive players score.

Philly to confirm.

I accept. Again with my NFL team struggling Willis was expandable.  I think Capuano is a fair retrun. As for the other part of the deal. I like Cecchini's upside but I'd rather take a chance on Vesely.

  • Scalious: Yup. You're giving proven talent..but clearing cap.. I think its pretty mutual IMO
    Today at 07:46:18 PM
  • Ace: i understand :TOR: but think they could have gotten more; dealing Gordon and Wainwright in same deal isn't smart
    Today at 07:46:55 PM
  • Alex87878: yah i am from here forward operating mostly in the trade market. FA is too stressful
    Today at 07:46:56 PM
  • scottnva: lol
  • Scalious: Gordon is at the mercy of exention prices...which are dictated by this crazy FA.

  • Snygg: Realmuto called up?
  • Scalious: I think its a good deal from both sides. Makes sense..IMO. Ace has a point in that dealing them sepreatly may have netted more
    Today at 07:49:00 PM
  • Alex87878: well he was last season, i plan to call him up either way which would activate his contract
    Today at 07:50:22 PM
  • Snygg: I wrote 217
  • Alex87878: looks all good to me
  • Ace: take devers and gordon out and the deal is fair imo; that's where i think the problem is
    Today at 07:56:01 PM
  • Ace: if i was thinking about dealing wainwright and gordo the whole league would know about it
    Today at 07:56:45 PM
  • Alex87878: it was something that sort of came up unexpectedly in snyggs defense. and i respect that he focused his talks with me before making it public
    Today at 07:57:55 PM
  • Alex87878: despite how it looks, taking on $30m in one trade is not easy
    Today at 07:58:42 PM
  • Snygg: which made me add in Gordon
  • Snygg: not sure it was defense
  • Scalious: Exactly...Stanton is the only FA making over 30 Mil. That cap clear has value.
  • Ace: the trade broke the site
  • Snygg: i understand that it is hard to value the trade, because it has so many components
    Today at 08:07:53 PM
  • Alex87878: haah i was like wtf
  • Snygg: Wainwright's $19.5M broke it
  • Snygg: 1 minute of silence
  • Alex87878: I honestly do think snygg made out well. one thing that I kept bringing up was wainwrights age and decreasing SO rate. And I was serious about that as a concern of mine
    Today at 08:09:02 PM
  • Ace: so... trade talks between :MIN: and :TOR: could be awkward
    Today at 08:10:39 PM
  • Alex87878: haha how so
  • Scalious: Hmm.. I missed you threw in T.J. House..
  • Ace: people never usually appreciate my well intentioned trade advice (which never changes by the way) of always leaving studs on the block and waiting for the offers to roll in
    Today at 08:14:18 PM
  • Alex87878: haha I usually do that if i cant get what i want from an initial trade discussion
    Today at 08:15:36 PM
  • Alex87878: Scal, i looked up House and hes currently listed 6th on the Indians depth chart
    Today at 08:16:11 PM
  • Scalious: I was told Gordon was a hold..lol
    Today at 08:16:25 PM
  • Alex87878: im sorta hoping he will end up in the bullpen... haha
    Today at 08:16:26 PM
  • Scalious: Teams rarely only use the same 5 starters all year.. Pitching is too volitle.
  • Alex87878: yah thats fine with me as long as House can get the RP eligibility
    Today at 08:20:32 PM
  • Alex87878: I like to have a flexible lineup
    Today at 08:20:45 PM
  • Alex87878: well i took the Ace approach in posting my new BTL trade block
