Traditionally, we have extended a fair amount of leniency in terms of transaction deadlines, so I do not believe it would be either consistent or fair to penalize Nick for being only 28 minutes late in pulling back this waiver claim.

I understand this league is a free league to play but when do we actually as a team manager know when we can have rule bent and which ones can't be? Innings pitched per week can't have small buffer if you go .1 over your penalized! You place bids have to honor them! But in a playoff run team can go 2 days past to make room for a guy and now 2 72 hour periods to make post to pull waiver back and half hour past yes small time but still here in period of 144 hours couldn't post be made? I will accept what ever is ruled but feel within rules there needs to be some accountability made when times are given to honor it

I would think a late decision is a late decision. I lost a couple of players to FA last year because I extended them a couple of hours later than the deadline.

I understand that we may not have made exceptions to the general league deadlines such as the trade deadline, last day to resign expiring contracts, etc, but I do not recall cases when we have taken a hard line with timed deadlines such as the 24, 72 or 144 hour ones.  I am trying to be sympathetic to everyone right now.

In my opinion not awarding Martin Prado to Boston would set a bad precedent for deadlines in the league.  If you stretch the rules here and let one GM get by being 28 minutes late where do you draw the line. If I am 1 hour late to rescind a waiver is that too late? If I bid on a Free Agent 28 minutes after the 72 hour deadline is my bid still valid? What is the point in having a 72 hour deadline if it doesn't actually apply. Rules are rules and deadlines are deadlines.  They are written down and all GM's in the league should kno them.  They should be followed and enforced.
