Philly and Arizona agree to a deal
« on: June 03, 2012, 12:17:06 AM »
:PHI: sends

CI Liddi, Alex, $1m (2013)
X-CI Liddi, Alex, Cash exchanged on Contract 2012, $-1m in 2012
MI Galvis, Freddy, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI-OF Martinez, Michael, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Beltre, Engel, $0.5m (P-n/a)

to :ARZ: for

CI Young, Michael, $10m (2015)
Ariz pays 5m in 2012
CI Singleton, Jonathan, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Philly does this deal to acquire Singleton.  I have been a fan of his since he was coming up in the Phils system.  I'm hoping he lives up to the hype and pans out.  Young is having a real tough year and I'm taking the chance that his career isn't coming to a screeching halt as I take on his big contract.  I hate to lose Liddi who is a young player and I really hate losing Galvis as I feel he will have a good solid career.

Thanks Omar for the negotiations.  Arizona to confirm  :toast:

Sorry for delay. I have been pondering this deal. The 2 best players by far are going to philly. Liddi is nice, but the others most likely will not have a MLB career.  Im still gona hold off on voting.

Not really sure what the issue is here.  Galvis will definitely have a career.  Liddi will be fine as well.  I'm taking on 35m in salary from a player at the end of his career and getting a decent spec who hasn't done anything yet.  Thats a pretty huge salary dump I'm taking on.  Nothing wrong with this deal.

This is a trade Phillies are willing to gamble on, a player at the end of his career, and I am gambling on some young players careers and at the same time liberating my team of a contract that takes a lot from my low salary cap.   The issue here has more depth than just who is getting the best players, this is a move between two teams betting on their future.

I am not on the TC, but I have to say that I would say this is a good deal. In a normal league this would be horrible, but with small market teams and different salary caps this is pretty smart for both. I do think Jon Singleton as the added prospect is pretty high considering his ceiling is higher than Liddi's and I do not believe any of the prospects given are too impressive. I do not think that it is veto worthy though simply because of the immense amount of money that AZ is saving and PHI is taking on. Just my 2 cents.
