Great explanation harschman.  I think all teams had this type of system.  I don't agree with the draft picks.

I am happy you brought up Spygate. I never saw a problem with that and thought it was wrong that the Patriots lost a pick.

Payton lied about it when he was approached by the NFL.  Fine Payton, don't take the picks, and bam Williams indefinitely.  That would have been my call.

yea i think the draft picks are  irrelevent, but payton deserves his 1 year ban because he is responsible for williams, he was greg williams's boss and should take responsibility

the fact is that what they were doing was much much worse than what any other teams were doing and it was so in depth and controlled its kinda scary.... PLUS  they all denied it was happening even though they clearly knew it was

Much worse by whose standards?  The Giants admittedly targeted Josh Wilson due to his concussion issues?  Much worse b/c there were NFL ref's called the games and they weren't even the most penalized teams?

They got caught and were made an example of. Simple as that. Greg Williams will never be able to coach again. I bet that now everyone in the NFL knows he is not playing around when it comes to player safety and LYING TO COVER UP is as bad as bounties, even if its thought to be happening league-wide. We will never know, but we do know that the Aints got caught and they are suffering the consequences. Yes Football WAS a physical game, but its getting real soft these days and everything is under the microscope x1000 from the 70's or 80's with internet and social media.

I just think payton is stupid. When approached he responded that he didn't know about it. Is that really possible? This wasn't a players only thing, it was a complex system created by Payton's assistants. For him not to know of it is ridicolous

I think the penalty was so severe b/c Godell wanted to show the whole league that he will not be lied too..I just don't understand why the Patriots cheat to win Championships, and suffer less of a punishment..one of my best friends played in the NFL for 2 years, and pretty much said it's league wide, all the guys are trying to hurt each other...he's got the best stories.

Theres a diff. bet. wanting to injure people actively, and being paid to injure.

Precisely!

My 8th grade LB coach wanted us to hurt the opponent, FFS, but he never paid me when I did... :(
