Starting Rosters:
Each team will select 5 keepers for their major league. The rest of the major league roster will be filled out evenly, based on 2010-11 fantasy points. Goalies will be divided first followed by forwards then defensemen until each roster is at the initial 20 players.
Position and salary will not be considered in this process

Does this occur every year, or was this just for the start-up?  So if i'm understanding correctly, the contracts change every year?  If someone could clarify please! Thanks

Nope this is only for starting rosters. So rosters stay the same for the rest of the years and contracts don't change.

Ok, thanks Drew.  Also, can someone add me to Fantrax?  I want to do my extensions before they are cut off.

This extension thing does not work. You have a player that has 1 good season and you have to give player an outrageous pay raise or risk losing player in bidding. You can still have raise based on last year of contract but make it reasonable . Something like below and you can chose either a 1 ,2 or 3 year contract for salaries over $2 million , up to 5 years if salary is $5 million or more per season and either a 1 or 2 year contract below $2 million

Re-signing Forwards
4 million -100+ pts
3 million - 90-99 pts
2.5 million - 80-89 pts
1.5 million - 50-79 pts
1 million - 40-49 pts
650k - 26-39 pts
500k - 25 pts or less

Re-signing Defensemen

3 million - 60+  pts
2 million - 50-59 pts
1.5 million - 35-49 pts
1 million - 30-34 pts
750k - 16-29 pts
500k -15 pts or less

Re-signing Goaltenders
3.5 million - 40+ wins
2.5 million - 30-39 wins
1.5 million - 25-29 wins
1 million - 20-24 wins
800k - 15-19 wins
500k - 10-14 wins
300k - 9 wins or less

***These are the amounts you add on to the players previous contract

Do you mean they get a raise of that much based on their 2011-12 and 2010-11 values. I think a raise based system would be a great unique system to go to but I would like to go off positional ranks.

Yes the current extension system is broken, we are working to fix it but can not make a complete fix under current extensions are closed as it would be unfair to GMs who have already signed extensions for this season.

Here is a proposed change:

Average Rank Changes (from past 3 years)
+40 and over ranks - $4.0m raise
+30 to +39 ranks - $3.5m raise
+25 to +29 ranks - $3.0m raise
+20 to +24 ranks - $2.5m raise
+15 to +19 ranks - $2.0m raise
+10 to +14 ranks - $1.5m raise
+5 to +9 ranks - $1.0m raise
-5 to +4 ranks - $0.5m raise
-15 to -6 ranks - no salary change
-25 to -16 ranks - $1.0m pay decrease
-30 to -26 ranks - $1.5m pay decrease
-40 to -31 ranks - $2.0m pay decrease
-50 to -41 ranks - $2.5m pay decrease
-51 and under ranks - $3.0m pay decrease

Here is an example of this process:
Brian Boyle, $0.5m
09-10 rank - 114th
10-11 rank - 10th
11-12 rank - 31st

104 + -21 = 83/2 = 41.5

Boyle would be due for a $4.0m raise and a contract of $4.5m, he could be signed based on "Contract Limits" for 1-4 years at this value

Average Rank Change = increase from year 1 to year 2 plus increase from year 2 to year 3 divided by 2

Anyone have suggestions as this?
It is based only on the contracts we sign in free agency and not their real life contracts which may be more realistic.

Simply extensions so only when they are in need of a new contract.

Apparently yes, he has logged in, in over month so something much more important must have came up.
