Rules brainstorming
« Reply #11 on: February 19, 2012, 03:56:34 AM »
In this thread I'd like to discuss all possible rule changes.

E.g. at the moment I'm on the fence as to whether a player you buy should negotiate a new salary when you buy him. It's a bit complex and artificial, but maybe doesn't bring back so much benefit. The rule I have in mind, more or less:

- played and scored a lot of fantasy points in his previous team = +20%
- played a lot = +10%
- played little = -10%
- didn't play at all = -20%

- very young = +20%
- young = +10%
- old = -10%
- very old = -20%

The main benefit would be for players you buy for peanuts when they are extremely young. When reselling them some years later, maybe they should at least demand a higher salary. However, their very low salary would always be implicitly taken into account by you demanding a high transfer fee for such a player anyway.

Another possible rule would be for the youngsters to have a fixed salary increment based solely on their age. Say, 10% per 6 months.

Contracts
« Reply #12 on: February 19, 2012, 09:19:01 AM »
Salary restrictions
Minimum salary is 0.1M per 6 months. All contracts end on June 30th. The club can decide the length of the contract with the following limitations:

0.1-0.49M per 6 months => maximum 2 years,
0.5-0.99M per 6 months => maximum 3 years,
1M+ per 6 months => maximum 4 years.

Free agent bids are the proposed 6-month salaries. The highest bid wins the auction, and the winner can decide the contract length, with the above limitations in mind. The maximum allowed length will be assumed unless posted otherwise. The new team can decide to give their new player an immediate raise in order to sign a longer contract.

Signing a new contract when traded
The contract can be lengthened by the new club, the above salary restrictions apply. The new team can decide to give their new player an extra raise in order to sign a longer contract.

Contract extensions
There are no extensions. A player becomes a free agent when his contract expires.

have you thought of the idea of relegation and multiple divisions in each league?? i know this would be twice as hard, but it could make this a massive fantasy league... it would even make it a little more competitive knowing that the poorest teams in first division would be relegated... just throwing it out there, might be too difficult to start with.. could always be an expansion idea... expansion owners would have to start with 2nd division teams... only problem i'd see is when the fantasy team is relegated or promoted and the team in real life is not or vice versa.. not sure how that would affect scoring and what not.

Niceness!
And it's not a problem at all to have the fantasy Man United play in the third league, fear not!
But yeah, it's most probably an expansion idea as this league starts ruling the world in a couple of years. We can expand both in the number of countries and the number of divisions, provided there is enough interest!
