This will be the most relaxed Fantasy league on the 'Net.
Rules are simple:
1.)Rosters- I will need each GM to select their initial roster by 4/1/10. These players must be on either your parent clubs MLB roster or in their farm system.
All other current MLB and MiLB player are free agents available at auction during the All Star break.(See FA Auction below)
2.) Reserve Clause- Strictly enforced. There are no contracts, extensions or arbitration.Free agency exists here solely for the purpose of signing players that are on teams that don't exist in this league.
3.) Free Agency- The purpose of this league is to simulate your parent club. However, what kind of league would this be with the likes of Longoria,Santana, etc on the bench as free agents?
In season-So, we'll get our baseball fix during the All-Star break by having an auction. You will have a $50 budget to spend as you like. Use it or lose it. The only restriction is that you must maintain a 40-man maximum roster.
New bids will not be accepted once the first pitch is thrown to reopen the season. Open bids will remain open until resolved.
Once a player is awarded they become your property until you release or trade them.
Off-season- To help keep interest peaked we will have an auction starting with the last out of the World Series. $100 budget, rules as above.
New bids will not be accepted once the season starts, open bids will remain open until resolved.
4.) Player releases- Cut 'em! No contracts involved, no penalties
5.) Trades- For the time being the Commissioner will be the sole arbitrator for trades. I'll gladly relinquish that responsibility once we get rolling.
6.) All league transactions done here on MLFB
7.) Games will be played on Fantrax (scoring TBD) where you can also view Free Agents
8.) 40 man roster limit!
That pretty much covers the basic concept. We won't be strangled by rules so we can work through the details as we go along.
Polls will be used extensively for fine-tuning so close participation is imperative.
I'm always open to suggestions, you know where to find me.
