Rule Clarification (pitching penalty)
« on: June 01, 2019, 01:21:55 PM »
If I'm at, say, 65 IP going into Sunday or the final day of a scoring period, do all of my points from pitching that day count? Because that's how I interpret the rule

Yes, at fantrax if you hit the max limit of 70 innings on Saturday, then you will not collect pitching points on Sunday. However, if you end with max 71, 72, 73, etc innings pitched on any day of the week you stop at that # and will still be over 70-innings. To determine what to cut is monitored by time zone pitching (east coast vs west coast and in between) or whatever pitcher that covers the overage. NO pitcher appearance will be split as a SP 8 innings cut to 4 innings and fp total cut in half. It is either none or all to get the team pitching down to 70 or fewer innings for game period.

REMINDER TOO: Some pitchers do end with minus (-) points.

As for Arizona Diamondbacks in game period: I have done much research of past POSTS (archives, history, etc.) and never was the structure of violations on pitching dropped. In fact it was monitored strongly from 2016 thru 2018 with the current violation chart. So, in fact that Arizona ended Sunday with total 79.2 innings for game period, I had to cut 9 plus innings. Max Scherzer 8 innings (130.86 fp), RP Bryan Shaw 1 inning (20.67 fp) and RP Lou Trivino 1.1 inning (11.31 fp) = total -162.84 fp + -100 fp (ruling, 2nd violation) a total -262.84 fp score adjustment. Arizona did score SP Gabriel Ynoa 5 innings (33.1 fp) on Sunday.

Again, rules are rules, and to date thru game period 9 the pitching violations has been monitored and score adjustments made as for the league.

On further researching the rule of pitching violations, I discovered the following: Yes, however, in 2018 that ruling was not enforced because members of league thought that by locking pitching max at fantrax would solved the league from 'babysitting' violators. That was not the case and monitoring again was used with the starts past 8 deleted and innings past 70 cut. The minus 100 fp was not enforced on 2nd violations. In 2019 the 8 starts was voted out and 70 innings maximum remained as the only violation culprit. So, what was done in 2018 should apply in 2019 with innings past 70 cut as score adjustment. NO longer the minus 100 points be applied with 2nd, 3rd, etc violators. That rule added back in 2015 was conducted through 2017 only.

  • indiansnation: So mlb has to watch how far they go it could hurt them really bad.
  • ldsjayhawk: If they are not contracted with Milb, how fast will those towns defect to whatever MLB Pres together?  The first 60 become the new minor leagues and the rest are out in the cold

  • indiansnation: Vik pm
  • ldsjayhawk: I agree though.  Manfred thinks it's pace of play that hurts the game, it's the fact that you can't go to the ball park and watch your favorite player, because he just signed with NY or LA.  eventually that is going to translate into tv $
    Today at 07:29:41 PM
  • indiansnation: Actually i believe all the minors are affected from 3a down. If milb are united that can be trouble for mlb.
  • ldsjayhawk: It all really won't matter when MLB a ten team league fed by the AAAA teams in locations like Cleveland and KC
    Today at 07:31:05 PM
  • indiansnation: If i was comish of milb i would get a hold of all idependent leagues and make their own league and screw over mlb. If u look at it its cheaper to go see a minor league team then mlb team.
  • indiansnation: They raise their prices a little bit milb could make it on their own.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't think they could
  • Yeagg: That would never be possible Brain. The MLB holds all the rights to the players.
  • Yeagg: The MiLB teams have zero controll over the players
    Today at 09:23:28 PM
  • Yeagg: and without the players, there is no product for the MiLB to put on the field
    Today at 09:23:49 PM
  • indiansnation: U can put a league together easy. If mlb is cutting back minor affiluates it can only have so many players in mimors
    Today at 09:46:37 PM
  • indiansnation: Ok if mlb is struggeling to pay their minor league players and u cut draft down to 20 rd draft. Their will be a crap liad of players that milb can sign. Look at mlb last yr with vet players how many didnt get offers. U dont think those players wont go for milb if they get a good enough contract. Mlb can totaly screw them selves easy.
