First day of the season extensions
« on: December 12, 2018, 01:41:55 AM »
Extended contracts:
OF Schebler, Scott P-2019 (2017 #55=$4m) > '18 #87
Ext 3yrs @ $4m

SP Anderson, Tyler P-2019
'17 #143 < (2018 #58=$5.5m)
Prospect extension of 5yrs @$4m

SP/RP Cessa, Luis P-2019
(Pts 381.76 & 244.88) = rank 150+
Extended 3yrs @ $1.1m

RP Barraclough, Kyle P-2019 (2017 #64=$1m) > '18 #126
Extended 3yrs @ $1.1m

RP Devenski, Chris P-2019
(2017 #21=$2.5) > '18 #148
Extended 3yrs @ $2.5m

Kyle Freeland can be extended first day of regular season on a prospect extension, to start in 2020.  All others are impacted by regular extension rule and would have extension tacked onto end of current deal, making them subject to term limits as laid out on contracts page.

Scott Schebler - 4M extension can be between 1 and 3 years total, so if extended prior to end of season 2019 it could only be a 2 year extension to make his contract .5/4/4

Luis Cessa - 1.1M extension is same as Schebler above.  Extension would need to be .5/1.1/1.1

Kyle Barraclough - 1.1M extension is same as above.  Extension would need to be .5/1.1/1.1

Chris Devenski - 2.5M extension is same as above.  Extension would need to be .5/2.5/2.5

Rp Archie Bradley highest rank #26 in 2017 to 3 year deal to go into.thereafter 2019 season.

#26 would be a 2M extension and 3 years would fall into a regular extension category, rather than a prospect extension.  Bradley can either be extended @ 4M a year for 5 years beginning after the 2019 season or he can be signed now to a 2 year extension, making his total deal worth 3 years.  He would be .5/2/2.  You could also wait until after the 2019 season and extend him based on his 2018 and 2019 value.

OF Mallex Smith Highest Ranking # 42 (2018) 2242 pts Extend @ 5 years $5.5m Prospect Extension for Smith Extend @ $4.0m for 5 years.
MI Jason Kipnis Highest Ranking # 31 (2018) 1751 pts. Extend @ 3 years $4.0m
OF Aaron Altherr Highest Ranking # 66 (2017) 1836 pts.Extend @ 5 years $3.0m Prospect Extension for Altherr Extend @ $2.0m for 3 years

Mallex Smith extension is done correctly and can be processed day 1 of 2019 season

Jason Kipnis extension is a regular extension so if it is to be processed now a 4M extension could add a max of 2 years to his current deal.  Kipnis will also be taking a paycut from 5.8M, so 70% of 5M is 4.1 M.  If you want this extension to be signed now it would be 5.8/4.1/4.1.  Or you could wait until after the 2019 season and refigure his extension at that point.

Aaron Altherr is being offered a regular extension.  Being on a PC, you could offer him 4M for 5 years and have it kick in after the 2019 season, stay with the 3M total and add 2 years to current deal for a breakdown of .5/3/3, or wait until after the 2019 season and refigure his extension then.

These extensions should not have been processed unless you were intending them to start with the 2019 season.

They must wait until the first day of the 2019 season to not start until 2020.

Texas Extends...
« Reply #7 on: January 12, 2019, 09:11:34 PM »
RP Seth Lugo, #12 rank 2018, 3.7m per. Im not certain on how the extensions work with year limits, and the prospect percentage discount. I want to keep him as long as I can.  So if someone could help me understand, I'd appreciate it!

5yrs @ $4m to begin the start of the season.

A regular prospect extension is perfect and can be processed on day 1 of the 2019 season, to start in 2020.

  • Flash: FYI:  In the WCB2 draft, I listed all the available MLB players with their contracts and all the MiLB players with their (P-n/a)s in a separate thread and crossed them out as they were picked.  Made it a lot easier for everyone--they could review who's available and what the cost of each player was.  Just an idea....
