1. Yes

2. I think we should modify the rule. Prospects, players drafted, players on prospect contracts, and those signed below a predetermined salary (ex. $6m per year or less) should be allowed to be traded freely.

I think we are worried about things that probably won't happen, but even if it does happen the team that eats all that salary will be hurting itself in the future and the team that acquired said player will probably give up a ton in talent to get them.  Also, remember we have a trade committee that can look over all of these trades.

I think we should separate this one of and discuss it on its own because it is the most debated.

3. I am a small market team so I'd like to say yea, but no. You make your bed you sleep in it.

4. Nope nope nope

5. Switch to innings limit  :win:

6. I personally don't care. I'll go with majority.

7. I don't understand, explain further.

2.  I would be in favor of a rule change that preserves the current 6/1 trade limitation on players signed in the off-season and early season, but does away with it after that.  I'd also be in favor of dropping the trade limitation for drafted and signed prospects.  I think both those changes would bring the league more in line with the MLB.

5.  I'm not for the rule change as written, but I think we should probably think about how the rule works and what it is intended to address.  We saw the real world Rays use and "opener" in a  number of games this year, with a RP getting a start but only pitching one inning, or the Brewers pull Wade Miley after one batter, to get a certain batting order set by the opponent, and then start him again the next game.  If this type of pitcher handling is a trend that will continue or grow in popularity, that really isn't the spirit of the games started limit.  We might be better off dropping the starts limit and stick with an innings pitched limit.

1. Yes

2. Yes, agree with Greg's recommendations on rule modification.

3. $1M or less may be too high, consider a lower number.

4. No, after playoffs is okay.

5. Move to a innings limit and away from games started.  If a team gets a RP who is used as an opener during the week, it could wipe our quite a few of that teams games started limit.  Openers also seem like a new trend that has caught on.

6.  No

7. Yes, but if I player comes up as a DH and only DHs, then he should only be UT eligible.  This probably only affects a few older playes who don't play the field anymore.

  • Brent: Same concept especially if you consider NFLC.  The NFL salary cap is the same as our $188.2M year.  The difference is RL football you have to pay offensive lineman and most teams carry 6-8 with left tackle being about the highest paid non QB position.  That was until recently, but they still get paid.  So if you pay your QB $40M/yr, your LT $15M/yr and the rest of your line a total of about $25-35M year, that could be $90M on 6-7 players.  You still have to field all of your skill positions and defense for the other $100M.

  • indiansnation: i think its harder guessing what yound guys will produce in nfl than baseball
    October 14, 2019, 02:05:31 AM
  • Brent: The Cowboys got lucky with La'ell Colllins.  He was 1st round talent, but fell out of the draft to UDFA due to false allegations that he was cleared of. So they got one of if not the best OT from that draft for peanuts.  Eventually he will need to be paid.
    October 14, 2019, 02:06:28 AM
  • Brent: Yeah, the draft is huge and also hitting on UDFAs.  Teams have to develop and then keep their own talent or they'll go broke and end up in salary cap hell.
    October 14, 2019, 02:07:09 AM
  • Yeagg: So basically just like baseball
    October 14, 2019, 02:17:10 AM
  • indiansnation: yep nfl u gotta watch how much u pay look at browns they are going to have that problem in 2021 they have alot of good tallent thats going to need to get paid.
    October 14, 2019, 02:17:13 AM
  • Yeagg: And no way Brian. Baseball has 40 rounds and still most of those guys never even sniff the MLB
    October 14, 2019, 02:17:33 AM
  • Yeagg: More 1st round picks are bust than even play a full season
    October 14, 2019, 02:18:02 AM
  • Brent: They also have between now and then to figure out who will be resigned and who will be replaced and don't they still have quite a few 1st round picks between now and then?

  • indiansnation: Hey if u have a top notch gm with a great scouting staff u can make any player u draft be great. Look at Boston their minors sick why is that because they suck at drafting. Know look at Tampa and indians and miami they have pretty dang good minors especially I diane look at who they had pitching this year bauer got traded, and they lost 2 of their sp most. Of the yr
