Keeper City League - Metro Stars
« on: October 09, 2018, 08:09:04 PM »
Reason for the League
- I need to get involved with ProFSL again. It started as a hobby of mine and it turned into something much more. It has retained a wonderful community but I miss it.
- There are many old ideas I have and I want to bring a few of them into play for a relegation style multi-sport money league.
- I'd like to run a league that is simpler in administration though, so it'll reflect classic fantasy league game play and be scored on Yahoo.

Premise
- Big four sports (NFL, NHL, NBA all starting late, MLB starts 2019)
- Multiple tiers, we can start with two tiers of 12
- No salaries but a cap that is tied to the market size of a city that adjusts with recent years' performance
- Entry fee is then tied to the cap (so all relevant in terms of you pay for what you get)
- Each year, teams get promoted and relegated b/w tiers based on performance
- For metro areas in four sports, an additional prize is set aside from their entry fees for top metro area: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Los Angeles, Bay Area, Miami, DFW, Phoenix
- H2H scoring with two annual non-snaking drafts: the first is an offline rookie draft and second is after rookies/keepers for the free agents based on market size
- Franchises can move cities if they pay a relocation fee (takes a bite out of their cap for the next season)

Rules
- More to come, want to garner interest for a couple days :-)

Sign-up
We'll start with existing franchises and you'll keep a few players from those teams ... just getting interest for now :-) You don't have to pick all teams from a metro area.

- Colby: Pittsburgh (NFL, NHL, MLB)
- Eric: Carolina :CAR: for NFL?
- thecliff: Detroit (NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA)

We can probably score it on Fantrax rather than Yahoo.

  • RyanJames5: I'm kind of late with the idea, but rather than releasing everyone on Houston that will not be kept on the roster to Free Agency, what if we held a 1 round draft for all of those players?

  • RyanJames5: Just thinking it's such a huge influx of talent that, just by luck, whoever has the most cap space to accumulate a ton of.

  • kidd5jersey: That is an interesting idea Ryan.  There is a website draftlottery.com I believe that we can have it generate picks.

  • RyanJames5: I do agree, certainly no handbook on how to handle a situation like that, I was just trying to think of a way to attempt to evenly distribute talent, rather than just let the team with 80 or 90M in cap space sign everyone

  • kidd5jersey: I agree Ryan.  The team with $100M will literally sign everyone.
  • RyanJames5: Yep, its too much talent to not try to find a way to evenly distribute.
  • Brent: Agreed.  Just do a random draft order for all teams and hold a 2 round draft for the MLB and MiLB talent that would be released into the talent pool.

  • Daddy: :STL-NFL: v. its coming
  • kidd5jersey: How are we going to do the drafting of it?  Are all managers aware?
  • Brent: It wouldn't be too difficult.  Stip out those players and list them out w/contracts for the MLB players.  Run a random generated draft order.  Post both of those lists, draft order and available players.  Advertise it, and then hold the draft.  Whoever doesn't get drafted in 2 rounds (60 players) goes into the FA pool.
  • kidd5jersey: Sounds legit.  Brian, get with Cris and see if that is what the best option is.  In that scenarios, guys like Elias Diaz should go back into the draft.
  • Brent: Yeah, anyone who was on the original roster outside of the few players kept.
  • RyanJames5: Good call.  2 rounds is probably more accurate.

  • kidd5jersey: I will try to get it set up tonight if possible.  How should we assign the picks?

  • Brent: random generator
