Title Town Contraction
« on: February 11, 2018, 01:26:21 AM »
So we have 12 owners checked in right now, and for sure have had 4 owners removed from the league so far and based on the log in date of the remaining owners, it's safe to say they won't be coming back. Due to this, and with talking to Chris, I have decided that the best course of action is to contract to 16 teams. The teams we will be removing are Memphis, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

With the MLB season coming up, we will focus on that first. The players on the 4 teams removed will be available in a 7 round contraction draft, using reverse standings from the previous year. We will start the contraction draft a week from tomorrow (February 18th at 12pm EST). I will post a list of players available to draft later this week. I will also be posting a schedule for the first year player draft and MLB free agency later.

For the next week, every owner will have the option of switching their city if desired. You will keep your current rosters, but you can switch to a city that you prefer. Big cities that are available are the following - Atlanta, Detroit, Toronto, New York 1, Phoenix, Dallas, Oakland, Seattle, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Denver, Cleveland/Cincinnati, or Miami. Send me a message, or post here and I will transfer you over. If someone leaves their city for another, it will become available. This will be the only time there will be a mass relocation possibility, outside of an extreme circumstance, so relocate wisely.

After the dust settles, I will realign the divisions, they will take effect immediately in baseball and football, and after the season in basketball and hockey. Bare with me with the rosters, I'm trying to transfer them over to google docs and I'm having some issues with the formulas. If anything I'll get some form up updated baseball rosters posted before the draft.

If you guys have any questions, let me know. I think this should really strengthen the league.

A 4 or 5 round contraction draft might be more appropriate.

A 4 or 5 round contraction draft might be more appropriate.

I think it should vary by sport.

10 is appropriate for MLB with 40 man MLB and 25 man MiLB. Or just 8 rounds maybe.

NBA should be the smallest at only like 3-5 rounds.

NFL and NHL should be about the same amount tbh.

I'd like to see a return to the Title Town overall championship.  Basically you add up the finishes in every sport and have an overall Title Town champ.

1. Contraction draft at 10 rounds - I did this because at most there are 160 MLB players, and 100 MiLB players. 10 rounds would cover 160 players of those, leaving 100 to go into FA. I figured the later round picks would go unused. 10 was an arbitrary number and I didn't do any research. Seeing that there are 210 players eligible to be drafted, I'm going to drop it down to 7 rounds. That would mean 112 players would be drafted, just over half.

2. Contraction picks won't be eligible to be traded. You can pick a player and immediately trade him if you would like, but for the sake of time, and for the picks potentially getting confused with first year player draft picks, I'm going to say no.

3. Kansas City is moving to Detroit, Milwaukee is moving to New York 1, Toronto is joining the league as New York 1's rosters, and Dallas is joining the league, rosters TBD. I'll post which teams are where in the first post of this thread so no one gets confused.

4. I definitely will bring back the overall standings. It will start with 2018 MLB and the other sports will follow.

5. Thanks Chris for doing that with the contracted teams!

  • Brent: It wouldn't be too difficult.  Stip out those players and list them out w/contracts for the MLB players.  Run a random generated draft order.  Post both of those lists, draft order and available players.  Advertise it, and then hold the draft.  Whoever doesn't get drafted in 2 rounds (60 players) goes into the FA pool.
