What is Yates doing, climbing off when 2nd on GC :'(

Geez... sorry about that!

I don't know about you, but this league has changed everything about how excited I get about every single day of racing. While betting on somebody's season is nice, there is something magical about betting on them performing TOMORROW. For the first time in my life I find myself watching PN on TV and TA on the mobile at the same time :taco:

Also, you could write a book about all our ups and downs thus far, and it's been less than two months! Myself for example, I got an early start in Australia, but then so much bad luck in Kittel's fall in the opening stage of Abu Dhabi, Moscon's TTT wheel (costing me both Geraint's and Landa's GC), Porte's weird 25 minutes loss on the flat while it's clear he's by far the strongest rider in the race etc etc...

I kind of find myself sort of forgetting who my riders are in the other games, as im rooting in this one.

My ability to watch as much cycling has waned as i no longer have eurosport

I can't moan too much as so far this week has been good to me and i will be making ground rather than loosing it. Having spent so much money and been down I will be back to an even keel.

So much good luck/bad luck has happened when you analyse individuals stage by stage. Just in some cases its a good job for the amnesty. Its just if more than 1 big money rider fails or crashes out that big losses will happen for people

AG did not go so well, but trying to do maths whilst driving on the motorway and getting someone else to put in my bids was not my strong point - upping Kwiatkowski to 110 when my last bid was winning. Well i couldn't see my phone.
Although was happy with my picks of Kwiat and Alba

AG did not go so well

Yeah, I think in that instance the total amount you spent exceeded the amount they'd actually score even if you could decide the outcome yourself

Very curious stage of the game, now that we're all (slowly and painfully) learning exactly how much to spend. My FW team is very humble as the deadline caught me offline at the airport. Greetings from Korea, guys!

Much better FW! 1,2,4,5. Not sure on my other 4 riders, abut at least 2 of those were not massive bids anyway

That's not ideal indeed. Tonight was the biggest night of the season, and sadly only Tom and myself made it into the ring. We attempted to keep each other honest, but prices remained reasonable. I can already see that Bryan must have confused the deadline unfortunately, because of his late bids. Plus yourself coming slightly late, plus Davy going through some big things in his personal life, plus others who only show up occasionally anyway. Not good...

That leads us to some sort of crossroads. I must admit I'm still very excited about this particular league, and I believe it has potential for absolute greatness. Some questions though:

1. Is there anything about the scoring format you guys don't like?

2. Should I attempt to devise a better algorithm, where being online at 10pm isn't necessary?

3. Could I have done better? Group PM an hour or two before the deadline maybe?

PS
One change triggered tonight: Tom and I quickly came to an agreement via PM that there should be no limit on how much you invest. This saved the game for everybody, as otherwise we'd both only tie our hands while prices were still insanely low. Without it, we managed to push each other into a decent region of roughly 300 per podium contenders. Should have been closer to 400 of course, but at least the game has not been broken tonight.

Thanks to all those who responded via PM. It looks like indeed it was mostly a fluke that I ended up with 23 riders, as at least three other people intended to appear but were unexpectedly hindered.

However, I'm considering some additional measures to help us out in the future. My ideas, ordered from the easiest to the most effective one:
1. Group PM at 19h or 20h or 21h
2. Doodle before Grand Tours to find THE perfect deadline time
3. New rule that you can only participate in a given bidding if you placed at least one bid in it before noon. This would simply eliminate 21:50 vultures like myself. What's more, I think people could also start to open higher to have fewer opponents, and others might outbid early to make sure they guarantee a spot as opponent. The prices thus go up early and some in fact saturate at the final price hours in advance, so effectively 21:50 becomes much less important.
4. Recruit! I don't mean to brag, but I still think we designed it very elegantly. With the bidding timing and the tax and everything. Plus it really offers me great excitement to buy a guy in the evening and actively cheer for him the next afternoon. So a part of me is really dumbfounded why not more people join. Maybe I should interrogate them individually?

Sorry for my non-response, I didnt really have anything to say as the way it is now suits me fine.

I would have taken some of your 23 riders, but I wanted to save some money for California (even if it is only 150) + youve pretty much won this segment anyway and didnt have enough clout to take enough riders to change that
