I respect both GMs a lot and don't want to ever tell or suggest how anybody should run their team. I understand why both GMs want to this but is it fair to both and the rest of the league? Not trying to swing the vote but would like to know what others are thinking? Hope this makes some sense as I have had a couple of drinks.
I don't see how this is not fair to the league. SlackJack is trying to create cap space for next season/this season's resignings while Dallas obtains a young top pairing defenseman (something not easy to acquire) in exchange for future depth.Koivu is being shown he has no real trade value because of his current cap hit compared to his average point production. After this season, if he is resigned, it will be a much more realistic number. I don't see anything wrong with the deal.
