The Giants and A's have agreed to the following trade.

CI Frazier, Todd, $7m (2020)

  receives

CI Gonzalez, Adrian, $15m (2017)
SF pays $8m in 2016

P Duffey, Tyler, $0.5m (p-n/a)

I complete the exchange of CIs to obtain a younger SP that fits my cap this year.  In short term, I believe I improve my team, but take on significant cap next year.  I also take on the older, riskier player.  Frazier is locked in on a nice deal for his productive years.

Giants were on the brink of success last season when AGon went in the tank and failed to produce even average numbers. With his age, AGon is not a player who can be counted on to carry a team like he did in the past.   In Todd Frazier the Giants get a younger, productive CI, on a cost effective contract, whom I believe (hope) will have many good years in Chicago.  Giving up Duffey was tough, but with AGon's contract and age, I felt including him was a sacrifice I had to make to get a CI entering the prime of his career.

Negotiations went well and I think both teams got something they want.
