I will take that as a yes....I will chat with Peter and get it up for vote asap!!

Thank you for bringing up this idea for vote :)

Well, since we have all season I think we should have a good discussion first.  I haven't heard one reason why the players being excluded from fantrax is good.

I get your idea of wanting to accumulate points for minor guys without having to call them up or down or being forced to keep them on the minors after calling them up..I agree having to keep them there is maybe not working....what about having two-ways?   I just really like the idea of having a seperate farm team that doesnt effect anything on the main roster....or if the league approves changing the rule on the part where u cant send a minor guy back down....so u could call up Nugent for example and if he gets sent to the AHL before 40 games u could just send him back down.

What do you think, Im not againist your idea , just tossing out thoughts for discussion.!!!

Well whats the point of two-ways that leaving a guy on the roster wont achieve?  If we put guys on the fantrax and they don't play..no harm, they sit there doing nothing.  If they do play and we have two-ways, they get called up and sent back down.  It makes no difference except you're talking about way more work tracking two-ways and then callups and send downs.  It's an administrative nightmare.  I go back to Franchise GM and what we have there works.  If you guys would like to monitor call ups thats fine but youre talking about way more work.  For example, it could be every day doing two transactions per player (the call up and then send down).  Especially in the NHL where guys are called up for one game and sent back down.

rofl yeah that would be a nightmare for Peter since he does fantrax rosters.....so yeah a lot of discussion needs to happen, which is good :)

I guess the thought process at the time was to have it like two seperate rosters for each GM....to put more emphasis on the minor guys...admin wise not having to post in the transaction forum every time and having to update rosters each time would be easier....but I don't mind doing the work if you guys want it a certain way!!

Is there concern of stacking minor guys since theres no cap there? or do I need sleep cause I dont know if that makes sense lol

You can't stack minor guys for two reasons.  A)  there is a minor league roster size limit and B) once a guy plays 40 games in their career they must go to the major league roster or be released.

I understand why you guys made changes at first, to close a revolving door of call ups and send downs which effected signing prices for free agent prospects and then getting the cheaper by calling them up, sending them down, and then getting the cheaper contract for the draft position upon the next call up...confusing sorry.

Contractually, two separate rosters are important, but for scoring purposed I don't think it is.

Thank you Mike...I also understand why you guys didn't want a revolving door to the minor leagues.

For the record, the rule of not being able to send a MiLR player back to the MiRL once you activate him was in place back in end-May when I joined... I still have the pm because I was asking for clarification of the rules.

... Meaning this rule was already in place before Mike and Peter took over as commish.  It is the same rule we have in another non-profsl league I am in, so it is not unusual.

Regardless, I agree with the others who replied:  unless it is a gaping hole that needs an immediate fix, I'm opposed to major rule changes mid-season.

I think Pinerider is misunderstanding the issue.  It isn't about sending players to the minors.  The issue is if minors should be on fantrax...allowed to score points.

report of my PM reply...

hey chris, 3 things...
1) discussion is good in any league... especially RE rule changes.

2) disagree with changing rules mid-season / in-season unless theres a grand canyon of a error ... i don't think this qualifies

3) my thoughts on this rule to keep MiLR players off fantrax ... either way is fine since (a) some teams have zero-few NHL ready players while others only have NHL ready players they can move in and out of their fantrax roster daily, (b) every league is different and doesn't have to mimic the NHL 100% ... thought goalies were absolutely needed here in Franchise but one look at Gilly's NYI team and we realize you can play without a goalie... apparently Drew did it last yr.
