I think a reduction in roster size would also be the ideal solution, although the game works well as it is so don't mind too much either way.

Regarding races, my main intention was to check with you whether something should be removed due to a weak field. I've seen no such voices above.

Since we're at 79 events already, I don't feel the need to add any low category February warm-up races really. Riders mostly join them because they need racing days somewhere, anywhere.

I think a roster reduction would suit more than a budget reduction, 30 riders down to 25 for example

That change would be not only minor, but possibly counter-productive: not only did you and me sign some riders on a discount a year ago, but on top of that we're going to deny new people that very slight change to catch up via wisely built depth?

Going in depth with a reduced roster is still possible. If max =30, then quantity roster would be 30 riders and quality roster could be 25. On the other hand, if max was 25, then quantity roster would be 25 and quality could be 20 riders. Reducing the max does not lead to differences in these strategies.

Nevertheless, adding players and money in itself does not change anything.

20*5=100M in game money
100M/(30*20)= 167K per contract if everybody takes a full roster

24*5=120M in game money
120M/(30*24)= 167k per contract

Granted, if the max amount on the roster is reduced, then more money is available on any given contract. Because some riders are worth more than a minimal contract and especially since there are only a limited amount of protour riders (only a subset of which will score 'good' points), more money will always be spent on 2016 contracts. So, all riders still under contract are alway going to be discount riders, whether or not you change or maintain the max roster.

The true benefit from reducing the roster leads less domestiques on your team. That means less riders that will score less because they are just filler on your team.

TLDR; this is an awesome game and we should not change anything

Got your wish list ready? Spartacus is now off my books, freeing up a cool million for me to waste on obscure Colombians and washed up sprinters.

Dan Craven may not make the cut this time, though.

My 1.8m won't get me much so I've not put a list together so as to avoid disappointment. I have the basis of a decent squad I think, but then again I thought that last year!

As usual, I'm looking for volunteers to help in forum/spreadsheet moderation during the next couple of weeks. For now it's just Joel and me. The task requires a touch of nerdiness, but is simple after all:
  • Identify an expired auction. (Remember every post - including stupid comments - prolongs the auction.)
  • Add the contract to a team sheet. (Remember to check after the copy-and-paste if there is a space you need to delete after the name.)
  • Move the thread to "Completed".

One suggestion for 2016: No team limits for Olympics, WCITT and WCRR.

Extra suggestion for 2017: National Championships; your rider gets points if he wins his NCRR.

On paper they both make sense, but:
  • WC is a race like any other for our team, and smart/lucky selection is our only job once the auctions stop.
  • NC are fun, but why only winner, not runner-up? why not ITT? Plus a nightmare to score. All in all, Pandora's box :(
