The Orioles and Yankees have agreed on the following trade

The Orioles Recieve

P Dwyer, Christopher, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Marte, Jefry, $0.5m (P-n/a)

The Yankees Recieve

P Blackburn, Nick, $0.5m (2011)
CI Young, Michael, $10m (2015)
X-CI Young, Michael Cash Exchange on Contract, $9m in 2011


The Orioles trade the last few of their MLB assets to continue to re stock their farm team.  They are excited to add 2 more top 100 pitching prospects to the team as well as a young high ceiling potential CI.  We also rid ourselves of the last 4 years of the Michael Young deal giving us financial flexibility for future moves.  Blackburn was of little use to this team as we will not be contending anytime soon.

The do this deal for a few reasons. With Romero, Grienke, Sanchez, and Turner in minors, we feel the young pitching core is very good. Trading Ban and the newly acquired Dwyer does hurt the farm, but the yanks feel young pitching is a strength. Acquiring Young will help the offense out for sure. Blackburn will join the staff to contribute immediately.
