We got our goalie! Laurent Brossoit has won at every level that he has played in, and we believe that he will do the same once he reaches this level. Notice that Edmonton has yet to call him up? That is because they are being very careful with him. Brossoit will be a very good back up in a couple of years and he will be a starter in about 5. We are here for the long haul!

It is very tough moving Couture in his prime, but we are also receiving Skinner, who we feel will bounce back next season, and Beck, who has been climbing the Nashville ranks for the last few years. He has reached his 40 games and once this deal is processed, we will have the space to call him up (the reason Bournival is in this at all).

And lastly, we are happy to obtain another first in what looks to be a very deep draft.

does this trade to replenish our forward spots and add 2 additional NHL talented players along with a few of our other players. Couture is a young talented forward and Atkinson is also a young forward that has potential.

I don't mind trading Brossoit and Beck since I needed more NHL active players and still have other young players to rely on. I know Skinner is a young talented forward but he hasn't been the same since his rookie season.

I am disappointed to see Couture move as I traded for him in the brief span that I managed Carolina. I am also not sold on Brossoit so personally I would not have made this deal. That said, I often "sweeten the pot" just for the sake of making a deal to acquire a specific asset, and that is exactly what Favo has done here.

Only time will tell if Brossoit develops into the blue-chip goalie he has the potential to be. I would say it is clear a win for Nashville in the present but I like the vision and commitment that my GM is showing to his franchise. I see that as a win for me.

agree w SJ... in a free league i would veto. in this money league where the owner has blessed the deal i am ok. however i believe its a little skewed to the Preds ... any Oiler goalie is a longshot to crack the NHL ... that organization lacks something to develop talent or pick players. Skinner has been an injury risk since a few yrs but he is still young.

I was sitting on the fence and not sure I like this deal for the Hurricanes. Losing Cam and Logan for Jeff Skinner is steep.

But it's e40 and favo so I totally trust these gents know exactly what they're gunning for in the deal so it's a go!

This deal sucks now for Carolina but will look better down the road. Good owner-GM so I won't say no.
