Yes it appears at first to be a lot given to Edmonton....however....Pleks SUCKS......so its really like to me I gave Omark and Gagne plus 2nd pick for a stud in Vanek....im solid in my opinion up the middle for the moment and my man Lupul needed some love in LW cause I suck there and like I said with a stud in Vanek, wowzers that helps!!

Been wondering what I could get for Vanek. I like the young Oilers that I received in this trade in Omark and Gagner. Like Plekenecs more than Fisher and feel I could move him if needed. I am strong on the LW and increase my strength in the middle. Getting my pick closed it for me.

Sorry guys, but in my honest opinion, Vanek is not worth that amount at all. Horrible trade for Dallas. I will have to say that I do not approve of this trade.

I feel that this is too one sided on Edmontons part Vanek is worth more then Pleks but not omark a pick and ganger. I don't approve this trade sorry boys looks way too one sided

Are you guys baseing this on where my team will be in 3-4 years or the next 1-2 years....cause Linus is not gonna be much next season if he even plays....there is not much to get for the 2nd round pick I have that I gave up....soooo is Gagne & Pleks that bad for Vanek when Im solid in centers and need help on LW.....?

Im not being rude when I ask that...I just asking cause Im curious and its nice to discuss openly with hockey buds about stuff like this!!

RW Linus Omark has been dropping jaws with his flash and creativity all season, but the defensive element of his game needs serious work. In just 50 games this season he's a whopping minus-16. Prorate that over 80 games and he's a liability.

Let me ask you this:
1) Is the trade legit?
2) Would the trade be a detriment to the Dallas franchise?

My answers are that I know it is legit because I do not know Gilly other than through this league.

I don't believe this would be a detriment to the DAL franchise as they currently have 6 centers and plan on recalling Thornton at some point. Therefore these 2 centers I received are not at the level of the centers he has (Spezza, Richards, Thornton) so how many games would they play on this team. To be honest his best LW is Lupul which isn't saying much. So therefore Vanek will get him 82 games at the LW and get him pts where the other players will not be played as much. He also saves 1.1m in cap space to recall players in his vast minor system.

Your trading a good prospect in omark who gets 50 points a year (career average) gagner who averages 40 points a year Plekanec who averages 65 points a year and a 2nd round pick for a guy that had 1 great year otherwise and averages around 70 points a year you do the math its not even close

I do believe you that you guys don't know each other but yes it will hurt the league as Edmonton will have gotten considerably better without giving up a whole lot
