Maybe I like Gaborik too much at 32yrs old, but i dismiss the down year last year as he torched thru the playoffs. LA resigned him to a long modest deal so they like him too.
I give up 4 years in age (Purcell), and a decent pick just acquired in the Mike Smith deal. I couldn't decide if i was giving up too much or not enough, but i wanted Gaborik and this was the asking price.

Im interested in what the league thinks about Gaborik?

The new owners keep on rebuilding their teams.
Gabby is a stud in LA but still an injury risk. Teddy is a good steady producer and has stayed healthy most of his career so far. I'll give the Win to my Division rival Lightning for landing the more skilled player in this trade.

Clearly a big victory for Tampa getting Gaborik on an inexpensive and almost cheap contract while giving up a less value. Yes Tampa is taking on risk with Gaborik but with that $2.7m the risk is pretty low. Obviously NJ is just getting started as the new owner/GM. Good start guys!

Id rather have Gabby but only when he hasnt broken one of his glass limbs. NJ couldve asked for more imo but if they like Teddy whaddaYa gonna do. The mid 2nd rd pick helps even out the deal a little.

I think the deal is very even. The pick makes up for the dropoff in production. I was attempted to get Purcell from Tampa but alas, it didn't work. I think he will do a bit better in Edmonton.

Looks pretty balanced but yeah I'd want Marian over Teddy on my roster in FH and real life. Scratch that, I can't have guys on my team with names like Marian and Teddy. LOL
