The Pirates are quietly extending two young players into next year. Worley, only 26 years old, has proven to be very valuable over the past month and has won over GM CRS245. It's a long way away from Worley making the 2015 rotation but this is a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, the Pirates have also extended Ben Revere. Revere has been the Pirates most productive OF this season (which doesn't say much) batting .295 and being successful in 26 out of 29 stolen base attempts. Revere is slated to be a starting OF as the Pirates have no one in sight from the minors and would have to bring in three above average veterans to push Ben out of the limelight.
OF Revere, Ben, $0.5m (P-2014), 75th OF in 2014, give him a $2.5m (2016) deal
SP Worley, Vance, $0.5m (P-2014), not even top 190 in 2013-14, give him a $0.5m (2015) deal
