San Jose and Ottawa Trade, 4 Players Dealt

Ottawa management announce a trade with the San Jose Sharks.

Acquired by Ottawa :OTT:
Dan Boyle, $4.7m (2013-2016)
Minor Leaguer RW - Danny Kristo (2008: 2/56 - 0 Games)

Shipped to San Jose :SJ:
Michael Del Zotto, $4.6m (2012-2015)
Maxim Lapierre, $1.6m (2013-2016)

We felt a veteran defenseman like Boyle would help our club stay ahead of the play-off pack. To balance out the deal a little we re-acquire Minor League prospect Danny Kristo.

Michael Del Zotto is young and very talented but underachieving this year and was someone the Sharks had asked about in the past. Lapierre was added to sweeten the pot and is eligible at Center and RW.

Sharks confirm this trade with the Sens!

Let's see Boyle is 37yo and MDZ is 23yo.
A no brainer of a deal for us to make.
Del Zotto is performing below his usual standard under a new coach but this is purely a case of buy-low for my Sharks.
Adding Max Lapierre is all about adding some trade assets for future deals.

Sharks want to compete for a playoff spot this year. We're only getting warmed up on the trade front. :thumbsup:
