Pittsburgh/Philadelphia Division Rivals Trade
« on: July 25, 2013, 10:42:41 PM »
:PIT-NHL: Penquins Trade:

LW Ryane Clowe, $1.8m (2014-2015)
G Marc-Andre Fleury, $5m (2014-2015)

$6.8M Total

:PHI-NHL: Flyers Trade:

LW James van Riemsdyk, $3.1m (2014-2015)
RW Wayne Simmonds, $2.6m (2013-2014)
LW Jamie McGinn, $2.3m (2015-2016)
 Scott Laughton, $m (P-n/a)

$8m total

Well Crosby gone and Fleury is on his way out too.I acquired a couple of Goalies in the trade for Crosby and I have Nabokov and a couple of possible starting Goalies which made the very good Fleury expendable.Flyers had some great pieces that I liked so made a decision to ship Fleury to Philly as they were in search of a goalie,I like Fleury but he will share with Vokoun which I don't agree with but that is the way it is and I probably would not trade him either. As I got depth for Crosby I also get here for Fleury. These are players I like in Van Riemsdyk who I consider a very good player and young.Simmons is also young and talented being 24.McGinn who is a fairly good player with Colorado and he is young also.Laughton seems to be a talented player also and a nice addition to the club's overall depth.

Hope we can meet in the playoffs Philly LOL

Thanks Papps for easy dealins

Flyers agree. I give up some good young players but I really needed a goalie and I feel I got a couple good players in return.

Thanks to the Pens for the easy deal!

I think Philly wins this by a country mile, Fleury is a fantastic Reg Season Goalie andf that's all that matters in this league, also Clowe and TK aren't slouches by any means... Honestly iffy about this one, seeing how many trades got shot down because of the value people are giving for goalies

I'm will Tyler here.  Philly is KILLING in this deal.  I do like JVR and Simmonds, but not sure they equal out to a starting goalie.  Even though Fleury is going to split time, he is younger and more proven than Vokuun, and should start more.  I'm really split on this one... :o

My problem here is that Philly's getting Clowe.  I feel like Clowe is really underrated in this format.  He is a Hits machine.  His point production is likely to decline in NJ but he'll probably get even more hits.

Part of me wants to approve because I think the goalie market is inflated, as I've said in the past. But all I have to compare this to is the market and I think Pit could get a much better return for Fleury.  I'm in multiple negotiations for goalies and I have WAY more on the table.

I'm going to hold off on voting for now in case either trade partner wants to add their 2 cents.  I'll mull it over for a day or so.

Although I think the Pens and I had a good deal already we agreed to take Kennedy out of the deal.  I feel this is a fair deal for both teams.  We both are getting what we want with this trade.  I'm not thrilled about not getting Kennedy but I greatly respect the opinions of others in the league.

I approved the previous deal and I still approve this modification. But since the initial trade has got people on the fence, I figure that I should explain my reasoning for approving that trade.

Even though as a GM I've tried to maintain two #1 goaltenders and two backups, I do feel there is too much of a premium on goalies in the minds of many of our GMs. Honestly, I'm just selfish and I feel that me hoarding goalies inflates the price so I get more when I try to deal them away, and thats whats best for my team.

But in regards to the terms of the trade.

Dealing away Fleury, the Pens still have Nabokav, and I see Emery as the #1 in Philly with Mason's history. Not to mention a beast in the pipeline in Dansk. Kennedy is a depth scorer in my mind, he gets decent points, and Clowe is on the downturn in his career and there are some health and durability questions based on concussion history and his style of play.

To get Fleury, the Flyers give up good young players who still have a lot of upside. I feel like by the time Nabokav hangs up his skates, Simmonds and JVR could be putting up some major points. So I think even though time this deal stays pretty even.

I dont say good deal bad deal or i like this side better.  My goal is to provide a fair platform where people are free to trade and not be judged because nobody knows for sure how these trades will play out. Lots of ACLs are gonna tear between now and new years.  Im always happy that two strangers with different backgrounds can meet in our league and enjoy freedom to be themselves and do what THEY THINK is best. I love every deal. (Had to share that @Braves) :toast:
