Offseason Poll #5 - Extensions Part 2

Currently rules state we can extend only 2 players per offseason and they must be in final year of contract.

I am keeping this vague to see if we have enough support to change at all before getting into specifics. However, one proposed option was 4 extensions per offseason and that they player does not have to be in final year of contract.

Discussion is welcome though would get a sepereat poll with options posted later if there is support to change.

I don’t personally like limiting the amount of resigns, but I understand the want to have free agents. I think it just artificially forces trades and free agents.

Why are we penalizing teams for developing talent?  The salary cap and resign values should determine how many players are kept, not an arbitrary rule.

I agree with Brent. Eliminate the rule as a whole and consider giving discounts on players that are resigned before their last year.

If you develop star talent, you can expect to be penalized well before they become a FA with how arbitration is inflated. There is no rule to force you to call anyone up. Cost control here is basically 3 yrs, 4 if you call up early.

6-6 in votes, so I am making comish call here, we will add 1 extensions starting this offseason. Players will remain having to be in last year of contract to qualify.
