Flyers - Oilers rework trade

Even though both of us feel we shouldn't have to the Flyers and Oilers agreed to rework the trade:

The Edmonton Oilers announce a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers:

Oilers Send:
LW Taylor Hall, $3.8m (2012-2013)
G Nikolai Khabibulin, $1.7m (2013-2014)


Flyers Send:
G Sergei Bobrovsky, $0.1m (2011-2012)
D Andrej Meszaros, $4m (2013-2014)
G Michael Leighton, $1.6m (2011-2012)
LW Jody Shelley, $1.1m (2012-2013)
2011 1st round pick

I added in my 1st round pick and taken out Omark.  Sizzrat and I are both happy with this deal.  I get a good young LW and he gets a top scoring D and a young goalie that will be traded to another team and could be a franchise goalie for years to come.

I feel Bobrovsky will (once again) prove to be a greater asset in the future than Taylor Hall. Once he gets traded or goes to FA next season, he'll be a starter with an astronomically low cap hit.

Losing Hall sucks, but I don't want to hafta resign him in two years for 9mill/year. Losing Khabby is also a good move in my opinion... he's on the downside of his career and will may get quality starts this year, but he'll be out of the league soon.

The Oilers are a team that needs a lot of pieces, losing Hall today for a high-scoring dman & tomorrows great starting goalie makes me a better team in the long run.
