so somebody please explain to me why extensions had to be done before the MLB had stopped even playing? why we need months of down time for this? im still extremely frustrated about how the rules are frequently altered, not recorded accurately, and i really cant figure out why we had extensions ending as early as they did. really, please please enlighten me, somebody. its stupid.
It was an administrative choice. We had a change where (2011) contracts were not going to be allowed to be renewed following the season. Prospect extensions were going to be given two weeks to extend. These were concluded by the RC during the season.
There were issues with the fact that at the end of last season (2010) contracts were being traded after the season and then resigned by the new team. This is no where near realistic.
The end of the fantasy baseball season marked the deadline by the not allowing (2011) contracts to resign. The additional two weeks were given for (P-2011) contracts. Following these activities there are administrative cleanup switching the books from 2011 to 2012, auditing (P-n/a) contracts, and position eligibility cleanup. In addition I am trying to put together a FA list since we are switching from Fantrax to PROFSL scoring system. We will then have to load the PROFSL scoring system with all of the rosters. On top of that we have the Holidays in which we can't expect administration to work through. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to maintain and work toward a new season.
We communicated the deadline and to be honest even made it later than it should have been. Please understand that the game that you get to enjoy takes a lot of work from a lot of people.
I would recommend that you get involved as much as you can, so that you can help mold some of these decisions.
