The Reds and Padres agree on the following Blockbuster trade. We've been discussing a trade for quite some time, but the other leagues dominated the talks until the trade deadline which allowed me to devote some thought to WAR REDS. I selected the Reds based on their pitching staff, but with my first two trades, I have took a hit there, however in doing so I have solidified another position in my lineup. Suarez, statistically is comparable with Machado, but we know stats alone won't get deals done so Castillo and his nasty stuff had to join the party. To offset the pitching loss of Castillo and Mahle the Pads are sending Lauer an Marge while Wisler offsets Big Pappa Pump Biceps Jared Lorenzen. Ruiz/Marcano are a spec swap with Siri and Aquino (current Reds RF). Normally I wouldn't trade for a $30M/yr contract, but since this is an inaugural season and contracts are inherited, Machado may end up being a deal long term as the FA season for teams with a lot of cap can drive up contracts on lesser players. It might not, but it could. I also add Machado to a lineup of Senzel, Winker, Meadows who are all on spec deals, so for half of Manny's contract his teammates are making near the league minimum. I probably won't be able to replace Castillo anytime soon, but like most pitchers it's just about finding the right one at the right time. That may be the most written for a pretty straight forward trade, but I thought I should offer some of my thoughts on why I did the deal and traded one of the longest contracts in WAR. Thanks for the negotiations Yeagg, your Pads in WAR will be a force like your D-Backs in BL.
