Dalls accept the trade as gaining that of a young goalie prospect in Oettinger and Darling who might gain another chance as he has 2 more years at $4m and the Canes cant afford him to sit in the AHL for rest of contract. Losing Griess hurts team now but Dallas is in rebuild mode, so looking at this trade with long term profit

I'm still mulling this over. I'm not sure that it's a fair value going back to Dallas considering that promising young goalies very often don't meet expectations. There have been better deals involving a similar quality of goalie to Griess that the league has vetoed. Not to mention Oleksiak is practically a wash with Myers. So it seems like Darling and Oettinger (who is promising but very risky) for Griess.

What do the other TC members think? We need people to start weighing in here.

Tough call but while I think Griess could get more I also don't see this vetoable. Dallas rebuilding and if he believe Oettinger is real deal and happy I have no issue. For what it's worth I was prepared to offer some sort of deal with Adin Hill, who I think is better bet than Oettinger, for Griess. At the time we couldn't work anything out though this was a few week ago and before Hill got the call and been lights out. Of course we all have our preferences and Oettinger does seem like he could pan out nicely as well so

Essentially it's Oet for Griess when it comes down to it. Darling isn't worth anything anymore, but Griess has been unable to hold down the starters job either, he's still splitting time and is just hot now, who knows how long that will last. Probably could have gotten more but I trust he knows what he's doing.
