NHL.com - The Dallas Stars on Tuesday fired coach Glen Gulutzan and assistant coach Paul Jerrard. The Stars missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs in both of Gulutzan's seasons behind the bench. This season the Stars went into the final week of the season with a chance for a playoff spot, but finished 11th in the Western Conference, seven points behind the eighth-place Minnesota Wild. Gulutzan went 64-57-9 in two seasons. This marks the first major move since Jim Nill was hired as general manager on April 29. "I would like to thank Glen Gulutzan and Paul Jerrard for the work they provided to the Dallas organization over the past four seasons," Nill said in a press release on the Stars' website. "They are both quality coaches and men, but we have decided to go in a different direction with our coaching staff and we wish them well in their next endeavors." The Stars have opted to retain assistant coach Curt Fraser and goaltending coach Mike Valley. ~MTK May 03, 2013, 06:28:44 PM by Mr.TradeKing | Views: 97 | Comments: 0

Mikka Kiprusoff has loosened his stance on holding out if the Toronto Maple Leafs can negotiate some sort of extension with him in a sign and trade deal with Calgary. As announced last night the Calgary Flames gave Toronto the rights to talk to Kiprusoff and it looks like it may have worked into both teams favors. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, as tomorrow is the trade deadline. April 02, 2013, 07:42:32 PM by yahoolando | Views: 146 | Comments: 1
Ryane Clowe waived his no trade clause for a move to the Big Apple. San Jose gets a 2nd round pick and a conditional 3rd rounder, which becomes a 2nd rounder if Clowe signs with New York. Not a bad catch for a player who hasn't even scored this season and is a UFA! Reportedly the Canucks and Rangers were the last two teams fighting it out. The Buffalo Sabres have trade defenseman Robyn Regehr to the Los Angeles Kings for 2 second round picks (2014 & 2015). Regehr waived his no trade clause for a chance at the cup in addition to being reunited with coach Darryl Sutter in ![]() Completion of the deal is contingent of Regehr passing a medical exam. In my opinion a great deal for as two 2nd round picks is quite the hefty sum for a stay at home type defensemen such as Regehr in the twilight of his career. But a good quality depth play for ![]() April 02, 2013, 01:58:20 PM by yahoolando | Views: 102 | Comments: 0
The Dallas Stars have trade center Derek Roy to the Canucks for a 2nd round pick and defenseman Kevin Connauton. Roy is strictly a rental as he is a UFA at the end of the season. Connauton has yet to play in the NHL and was originally drafted by the Canucks 83rd overall in the 2009 draft. Nice pickup for the playoffs for the gives them some depth at center for sure.Rumor is still out there that they want Ryan Clowe. We will see! The Calgary Flames continued cleaning house by trading Jay Bouwmeester to the St. Louis Blues for a conditional 1st round pick, 22 year old defenseman Mark Cundari and 26 year old goalie Reto Berra from Switzerland. If the Blues don't make the playoffs, Calgary gets a 4th round pick this year and the 1st round selection next season (2014). I like this deal for both sides as it shores up back end and gets an expensive contract out of as they continue to get younger. The prospects aren't special but the 1st rounder if the Flames get it this season should be solid as the draft is looking very deep.March 30, 2013, 03:59:17 PM by Mariner | Views: 130 | Comments: 2
A slapshot by Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik got deflected and hit Sidney Crosby in the mouth on Saturday afternoon during a game with the New York Islanders. Crosby, who was bleeding, was helped off the ice but skating under his own power and taken to hospital. Crosby will most likely undergo dental work as a result of this. This game was also the debut of Jarome Iginla in a Penguin uniform. |
