Franchise NHL: Transactions / Re: BUF and SJ confirm trade
« on: June 05, 2019, 06:25:34 PM »
San Jose Sharks are making a slash this off-season. We've added veteran goalie Price to our roster along with overpaid and underperforming sidekick Niemi. We move a stash of prospects with some good upside to get the deal done.

Trade to SJ
Carey Price, $10.4m (2016-2021)
Antti Niemi, $5.5m (2018-2022)

Trade to BUF
Brian Elliott, $6.0m (2018-2022)
G - Garret Sparks (SDP 2018: 2011 7/190 - 24 Games)  GP updated Dec13/18
G - Andrew Shortridge (SDP 2019: UNDRAFTED - 0 Games)
G - Kevin Boyle (SDP 2019: UNDRAFTED - 5 Games)
C - Jonathan Ang (2016: 4/94 - 0 Games)
SDP Round 1 - 2020

TheBeef to confirm.

The risk of FNHL Buffalo trading Carey Price towards the tail end of his prime is high as he can still perform at a high level. But then you can factor in the performance of his NHL team and the risk that Price might start showing a sharp decline as many players his age do and this could be a win longterm for Buffalo while a clear victory for San Jose today.
Niemi has signed with KHL Jokerit for 2019-20. Sharks can use a non-NHL Buy-Out.

I believe the true value of this trade will hinge on the status of former Calgary Flames starter Mike Smith, whether he claims a 1B starting assignment or begins to fade into the background as a veteran mentor playing backup to a young goaltending prospect. At the time this trade was posted, I would give the edge to the team getting Smith, Gudbranson and Carlsson. Today, I will say it is a draw.

Franchise NHL / Sharks in Western Conf Final

Very happy to see Joe Thornton get another shot at making the Stanley Cup finals.

Also great to see Pavelski return to the ice after that bloody head incident.

:CHI-NHL: Chicago management has made well rounded defenceman Josh Manson, $6.0m (2018-2022) available.

We seek a young defenceman in return as well as a 2nd Round draft pick or Supplemental draft pick (Round 1 or 2).

I believe this cap related trade will benefit both teams later this season.

Chicago management will release Kotkaniemi from our minor league roster.

Chicago management is pleased to announce Braden Holtby has agreed to a contract extension.
Holtby has been ranked 14th in 2017-18 and 10th this past year.
Quote
10   8.5  >>> 8.9

Braden Holtby, $10.2m (2015-2020) >>>> $8.9 Million (2019-2024)

We continue to negotiate with other Blackhawks players and will announce other extensions shortly.

  • Jonathan: A team that wishes to remove a player from the 40-man roster and place him in the minor league system first needs to place him on irrevocable outright waivers. The team may not pull him back if another team claims the player. Other organizations have 48 hours to make a claim.  If the organization does not specify the type of waivers, this is the default.
