Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Re: IR
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:53:24 PM »
I like that... My major concern is getting replacements for an injured player. Say I wanna call someone up from my minor team in order to cover for an injured guy. BUT he gets picked off from waiver rules. Is there a way around this?

I would hate to keep signing players to fill in holes that I know I can fill with players sitting in my minor league team... And its not like we are able to call up a minor player like they can in the NHL because we do not control if they play in the NHL or not.

That is a good point, teams probably would have drafted completely different. I know I would have taken a shot at the high salary players more, like the low drafted Thornton or Malkin because of their high salaries. It could have also been that these high salary players could have gone to free agency then their contracts could be half of what they actually are.

Amiss my rambling I could propose this, players who are over 7m per year could be dropped for free by their team. Then they go to free agency. Just putting this out there, not saying this will happen.

From a personal note, I do not approve of this... I wanted one of these high salary players on my team, and I worked to make him fit under his current salary. Doing this will not be fair to the teams who want to keep their top end players and have been able to fit them under the cap. If you want them, make it work or wait until they drop into free agency (P.S. I heard Big Buff is available next year).... Use your brain a little, guys.

As CBJ stated, we knew the rules going in. And if we drastically change them now (aka adding more salary or dropping high salary guys into free agency for free), than we might as well start all over (and you can bet I am first picking a goalie this time lol).

I agree with the previous two posts... You are extremely patient and definitely a huge help when it comes to the rules. I might not give you a lot of slack, but I can definitely say that you are doing a pretty good job.

I like the way the contract extensions and salary cap is currently at, as these rules add more drama to the development of your team. Sure, its gonna stink to trade or lose valuable pieces of your team, but that is what makes this league interesting to me... That IS the drama.

I wouldn't mind if the cap goes up every season, but I don't see how a 5 to 10M upgrade is gonna make this just as challenging as it is now... Just be smarter in your spending and know what your team needs in the long run (which I think is terrible that we got rid of 1 year contracts... I don't want to sign all of my players to 2 year deals. Some are just rentals.)

Backyard NHL: Invalid Transactions / Buffalo/Dallas deal #2
« on: March 06, 2011, 02:23:38 PM »
Buffalo Gives:
Evander Kane, $3.1m (2011-12)
Victor Hedman, $3.5m (2011-12)
Round 3

Dallas Gives:
Keith Yandle, $6.6m (2013-14)

My reason: I get my big d-man without giving up any more salary while unloading another two contracts that are going to expire next year. I give up a little bit of my youth to make the deal, but Mr. Yandle is going to be a quality player for the next few years.

Dallas is going to give his reasoning shortly. Good dealing with ya again ^.^

Entertaining offers for the following players:
LW         Evander Kane, $3.1m (2011-12)
LW/RW  Tomas Kopecky, $2.1m (2011-12)
LW/RW  Mats Zuccarello, $1.1m (2011-12)
D           Alex Goligoski, $1.8m (2011-12)
D           Victor Hedman, $3.5m (2011-12)
D           Sami Salo, $1.8m (2011-12)

In order of importance, I am looking for:
A) Solid Defensemen with a Long Term contract
B) Budget Friendly RW with an extra two years on his contract (somewhere between the 3M-4M price)
C) 1st/2nd Round Draft picks

I would appreciate not tapping into my salary, but I can possible spare 2M if you need space.
