The Royals do this to clear some cap space from a position where they have depth in order to fill other needs. With the money gained we can target some players in FA and get back in return two possible starting players for the 2014 season on lesser contracts. Paul to confirm.

As much as I love Carlos Santana I could not resist getting two of my favorite players in the minors. Castellanos should be able to help my club pretty soon so that will be nice. This will also help me with my cap for next year.
