Rocks do this deal to obviously cut cap space to resign Bruce and Bucholz, but a small market team cannot afford to pay that much money on an aging pitcher who will only get worst over time. The addition of Zito gives me a decent replacement at a fraction of the cost. Betancourt will get traded out of Atlanta eventually and gives me some solid value out of the trade.
